Part 2
Remus Lupin had never thought he'd be back here. Hogwarts holds the best moments of his life. It's where he met his best friends, Sirius Black and James Potter. It's where he found that some people could truly accept who he is. It's where he realized he's not meant to be alone.
However, Hogwarts also holds the worst moments in his life. He found his true love and lost her within his course of stay here. He's had hopes, if he were honest. I mean, he didn't think he'd have any friends but look who he found. So he also yearned for someone. Maybe it wasn't so impossible, right? But it seems it was too much for him to long for. Having friends is enough for someone like him. To have someone to marry and be with forever is asking too much. He isn't going to take any more risks after what happened.
"Remus," said a small voice from behind him.
"(Y/n)," he acknowledged just as he turned to face her. His ex-girlfriend. The girl he'd loved and will always love.
"Uhm, congratulations," she smiled. They had just graduated. Lily and James were taking photographs with their parents. Sirius was talking with his brother who gladly went to him to congratulate him. Peter was nowhere to be found.
"You too," Remus replied timidly. When it seems she had nothing more to say, he moved to leave.
However, a small hand stopped him. "Wait, please." (Y/n) had tears welling in her eyes.
She took a deep breath and said, "Well, today's our last day," she chuckled, "I still couldn't figure out what went wrong with us and I just want to – to tell you that I – still love you, so much. I hope you know that." Her breath was shaking. With a tiny voice, she said, "Good bye."
Remus could just stare at her back when she turned to leave. His hands turned to fists tightly that it drew blood. If he'd been a werewolf who turns due to rage, he'd surely have turned right then and there. He's so mad. He's mad because he wanted to run after her but he couldn't. He's so mad because he's like this. He's so mad because all he wanted was to be with her for the rest of his life.
"Fuck," he bit out.
"Hey, man, you okay?" Sirius asked from behind him. Remus wasn't able to respond so he followed his line of sight and saw what he was looking at. Or rather, who.
"Look, you still got a chance, chase her and tell her the truth. I'm sure she'll forgive you. You asked to remove her memories but she never forgot how much she loves you. She's worth it, Moony."
Still, not talking, Remus turned to look at his friend and shook his head.
"Last chance," Sirius pointed his hand to (y/n) who was boarding the Hogwarts Express with her mum.
"No," Remus said and left.
His life after that wasn't as easy as it is for others. No one would accept him nor offer him a job despite his qualifications. He's smart, responsible, hard-working but he's a werewolf. He didn't want anyone knowing but it seems like rumor about his identity has been spread around.

"Three muggle-born are missing as reported by the Ministry this afternoon, raising the numbers to 147 missing muggle-born wizards."
"Five dead wizards were found this afternoon at the forest. No witness was found."
"Muggles today reported the unusual dark sky amidst summer and the increasing number of crows."
Albus Dumbledore puts down the newspaper on his desk. The headlines of the Daily Prophet are almost repetitive these days – reports of muggle-born missing, deaths and even the muggles who they shouldn't even concern themselves with. This only means one thing: the time is coming.
