His sharp hearing and instincts take control of his body, sensing abnormal activity meters behind him.
He hears a bullet whizz by their direction, and Taehyung goes into quick action, grabbing Jimin's small shoulders and steering them clear of the bullet's path.
It hit a car instead, smashing the window to pieces and wrecking the car in the process.
People screamed and began to crowd around the car, which was thankfully empty.
They whispered among themselves, trying to guess what happened and making their own conclusions.
They argued and fought, some sharing sentiments and others angry at the possibility there was a murderer around here.
But Taehyung knew far better.
He and Jimin looked at the mass of people talking and chattering, new ones coming to sate their curiosity.
He goes to grab Jimin's arm, but it slides to his hand instead, Taehyung himself surprised at his boldness.
But the contact was quick, since Jimin pulled out with a very confused and hurt expression.
Gosh Taehyung just wants to hug him close and tell him 'it's alright', but he knew that would be the biggest lie he ever conceived.
"I feel like I don't know you anymore," Jimin tells him, and that simple statement was enough to shatter Taehyung's seemingly non-existent heart.
Ouch. That just hurt like hell.
And he had no other comeback, neither denying nor confirming.
"Taehyung," slips out from those pink lips, and said man has no choice but to give his full attention, "Who are you, really? Why can't you just talk to me like before?"
This time it was Taehyung's turn to step back, ready for a flight response.
He was a coward, and he knew it very well.
"You're right Jiminnie," he starts, backing away, not wanting to see any more hurt, "You don't know me, and you can never know me."
Hurt was added with more confusion, and Taehyung wanted to rip his hair out for the situation he put himself in.
"Are you-" he stops, trying to keep his crap together, "keeping something from me?"
Taehyung could only smile wryly, but before anything else could happen multiple bullet shots were heard, and the process repeats.
Broken car windows, blaring alarms, screaming people, running footsteps, and utter chaos.
Shoes clack against the pavement, and children's cries were heard.
Jimin, all frazzled and disoriented all over again, looks around and twirls like a lost ballerina before planting his feet firmly on the ground, about to round on-
"What the heck?!" he exclaims, brows furrowing, "He- he was just right here a minute ago!" He scratches his head, small whimpers coming out of his mouth.
A hand is then on his shoulder, and Jimin turns around, despite knowing that his life might be in danger and he doesn't know the first thing to self defense.
Should he elbow the person? Maybe kick the area where the sun doesn't shine?
But before he could really do anything amazing, it's to be met with two very large front teeth.
"You brat!" was his greeting to his co-worker, accompanied with a thump on the chest, even though he knew it was rock-hard and had no effect.
But still, the scrunch of the nose was worth it.
"What the heck are you doing here? It's a bloodbath!"
Even if he was still mad at the boy for calling Taehyung a liar, there was still some concern and big brother instincts that was in him, and these were just one of the times that those instincts had to surface.
Jungkook's answer made Jimin flip and want to drag him home to his eomma.
"I'm here to take you home!"
He said this with such happiness and confidence that Jimin just really wanted to smack that smile right off his face.
"Take me home? What kind of nonsense are you spouting out?!"
Jungkook's confused; why was hyung freaking out when he was right here?
Internal gasp.
Don't tell him... Taehyung approached him?!
So Jungkook seizes the other's shoulders, Jimin's eyes widening at the action.
"Oh no did Taehyung approach you? What did he say?"
The wide eyes then narrow, and Jimin shoves the hands away before walking.
"Why do you need to know? He's keeping something from me, I can feel it, and it's just so frustrating!" rants Jimin, Jungkook following close behind.
"I mean, how can I call myself his college friend when I don't even know his effin' birthday?!"
Jimin shoves people around, muttering angry curses as he continues.
"He maybe doesn't know that I like math and I love dancing, but then he never took the time to know me either!"
"Hyung-"
"So it's both our faults I admit. I can't even remember-"
"Park Jimin hyung!"
"What!"
Jungkook just gives him a deadpan look.
"Home's the other way."
Jimin turns one-eighty degrees before stalking again.
"Stupid little..."
