Jungkook thankfully keeps his word, and Jimin flings himself on his neighbor due to paranoia and fear.
He figured that if he stuck with Jungkook, he's more safer. And he's definitely taking his chances.
Jungkook, thrown aback at the suddenness, stumbles but was still able to hold his smaller hyung's weight.
He noticed the older was trembling.
"Hyung?"
"Yeah?"
"You're shaking. Are you okay?"
Jimin laughs humorlessly.
"I've just experienced a lot of situations that could actually kill me and you ask if I'm okay?!" he nearly screams, Jungkook raising his hands up in defense.
"Okay okay I get it," he says, trying to calm him down.
Should he bring up that Taehyung's the one behind all this? When he knows that pabo holds a special place in hyung's heart?
Mm... maybe another time.
For now, protection is best at all costs.
"Should we go now?"
Jimin sniffs.
"Yeah let's go."
Days later the same duo is taking the bus to go to work, Jungkook holding onto the rings and Jimin staring out the window.
He can't believe this; he still misses Taehyung!
Why- how is that possible when his life was already endangered by some maniac intent on killing him?
How could he still think about this man even when he's tangled in a mess he can't fix?
A tug is felt on his sleeve, and he turns distractedly to his neighbor, scowl on his face and profound words ready on his tongue.
"C'mon let's go," he beckons with a hand, "Stop thinking about that man, will you? He's no good."
Jimin's surprised at the hostility his voice holds, unusually hard and cold. Why does he hate Taehyung so much?
His brows furrow, and as they both get off the bus he asks irritably "Why do you hate Taehyung so much? He's not doing anything to you. I haven't seen him for days!"
"Well why does your heart have to choose him out of all people on the planet?" seethes Jungkook, being scanned by security.
Jimin gapes, heart suddenly aching.
His defensive mode is on as he retorts back "Well why the heck not? He's a good person."
"He's a liar!" the younger yells irritably, "And he doesn't deserve you, hyung."
There's a tense silence before Jimin harrumphs and walks away, leaving Jungkook to stare after his figure.
Aghh... he put his emotions first before his duty, and that's one of the biggest mistakes an undercover can do, and he blew it.
Why is he like this? Why can't he work without having to involve his emotions?
His second phone beeps with a message, and he's close to dumping it down the toilet.
His teeth clench, and he wants so badly to answer to his boss that yes, he knew he screw up and he's intending to fix his mess.
An angry Jimin is not really something anyone would want to see.
But he was pretty sure there was more than the surface obviously presented to him.
Was it a hint of hurt?
Jungkook doesn't know what to do now.
But he'll still do his duty, because he swore his life on this mission, and he's determined to accomplish it.
▪️
Taehyung was in a coffee shop not far from Jimin's workplace when his phone buzzes.Without looking at the caller id, he brings it to his ear.
"Speaking."
"Boss wants to speak to you personally," came Hope's voice.
Taehyung smirks; so now the big guy wants to see him? All because he didn't accomplish his mission?
How laughable.
Yet when he speaks, he maintains his professionalism.
"Send me the address hyung. Thanks."
With that, he ends the call and promptly stands, before throwing won on the table and leaving without a trace.
But he bumps with someone the moment he steps out, and his trained instincts activate and urge him to grab the other person's shoulders.
Once they were both steady, Taehyung lets go and was about to speak when he saw the very familiar face.
Instead, he ducks his head down and speed walks, though he knew it was too late.
"Yah Kim Taehyung!"
He freezes, before deciding to face him with a cool facade.
"What's up Park?"
Park Jimin, in all his work clothes and short stature, scowls before speaking.
"We haven't seen each other for almost a month and that's how you greet me?" He steps closer, "Take me to your office. I wanna meet the kids."
The lie was quick this time.
"I don't have work today."
Jimin's face crumples even more, and Taehyung can feel a little bit of his soul leaving his corrupted body.
"What? But why? It's a weekday today, and-" he stops short, thinking a bit, "Oh I tried looking for you some time ago. This officer told me he couldn't find your name and I got super mad." He chuckles sheepishly.
Taehyung could feel his throat lodging.
"It's-"
But then he couldn't finish.
Who do u guys think is Taehyung's boss?
