"I'm in love with an angel
Who's afraid of the light
Her halo is broken
But there's fight in her eyes"

This is exactly how Kim Taehyung feels for a certain someone.

He's sitting on his bed, torso exposed with the lower half covered in pajama bottoms.

A turn to the window shows that the sun is just slowly peeking out from the horizon, waking the people for the new day that's to come.

Well Taehyung's awake before the sun could even rise, and every day he feels disgusted of himself.

At first he didn't mind his job. It was high-paying and secretive, needing not much connection except when needed direly, and he was fine with that.

But lately there's something that's keeping him from work, and he doesn't need an IQ of 148 to know the reason why.

Mouth stretching in a yawn, he decides to stand to see what the day has to offer him.

His inbox consists of one message.

"Do your job right V, or else suffer the consequences"

He rolls his eyes at that. Consequences? What kind? Torture, murder, what? He's seen it all. Saw what the world has to offer when you disobey or resist.

He's used to the violence and hostility. Been a monster once or twice in his lifetime. Destroyed a person so bad that they couldn't recover, not now, not ever again.

Yet he closed his laptop and ignored the implied threat, slipping off his pajamas to hop into the shower, not at all prepared for anything.

He doesn't feel like going to work honestly.

Yeah it's fun sometimes but now, he doesn't know what's right and wrong anymore.

So he dresses in casual clothes and roams around the city for something to do.

As he watched the people bustle about, he couldn't help but remember his youthful days as a teen, enjoying life and having no concern but finishing high school.

A shock of brown hair is what catches his attention, and as he zooms in the face he receives a jolt to the nerves, recognizing instantly the sharp jawline and pretty face.

No other than Park Jimin.

He steps involuntarily toward him, but stops once he sees the younger yet taller boy flanking him, his youthful face an envy to many, including Taehyung.

His teeth clench, yet he knows he deserves no right to boil. Why should he? What is he to Jimin's life anyway?

He doesn't deserve him.

And he never will.

The pair was chatting animatedly, Taehyung's body not moving but his eyes following.

He thinks on whether to trail them before deciding to let them be.

But then again he shouldn't be surprised when he was in the store beside the bookshop, trying to stay hidden and at the same time not to look suspicious.

His trained hearing pick up on a beeping sound, and he peeks inside to see the man pluck the book from the shelf, only to be met with a ticking timebomb.

He's just about to go into action before the younger kid gets to him faster, throwing the bomb and spiralling into quick action.

So Taehyung pulls his disguise up after witnessing the heroic scene, and walks away as if nothing happened.

Yet why was his chest aching?

He heads to an abandoned flower shop, going inside and heading to the corner to push a part of the table; a hidden button.

The wall flips over to reveal rows and rows of weaponry, brown eyes scanning each and every one before deciding on a tranquilizer and instant rope.

He pushes the same area again, the weaponry disappearing to show the normal wall again.

Maybe, just maybe, he needs it.

Kim Taehyung rubs his closed eyelids before fluttering them open, brown orbs moving to take in everything that's happening in his office.

He breathes heavily before pushing himself up off the chair, feet dragging as he walks toward another office, one that's a higher ranking than his.

He raps twice on the door, a head peeking out at his presence.

"Oh Taehyung it's you. Come on in."

He nods once before slinking inside, lips up in a lazy smile.

"Thanks Hope."

The office was quaint and simple, the half of the four walls covered in bookshelves filled with books of all color and size.

A desk was in the middle, accommodating all the files and papers of various people with past records.

Taehyung gives his whole weight to the chair, a grunt escaping his lips.

Hoseok tilts his head.

"You seem tired," he comments as he rifles through a thick folder.

The younger could only rub his temples, not sure on how to answer.

One side of his lips rise.

"Oh gimme a break hyung; I've been tailing people this past week. You know it's not easy to get rid of those high-ranking scum." He smiles wryly.

Jung Hoseok hums thoughtfully.

He finally concedes with "Well you're not wrong."

"Have you gotten your earliest mission?"

At the reminder Taehyung frowns.

He gives himself some time to think before answering "It's hard to really approach this guy, hyung. I'm afraid I might need more time."

At this the older one is confused.

"More time? Approach? I thought your methods consist of a quick kill and disposal?" The spectacles he keeps on slide down his nose. He puts it back into place.

Taehyung rubs the back of his neck, avoiding his superior's gaze.

Hoseok's eyes narrow.

"Don't tell me you're getting close with the subject, Taehyung." He leans forward. "If Boss finds out you're trying to extend the deadline he will kill the prune himself."

"I just don't understand!"

Finally, he snaps. He sits up straighter in his chair, all fatigue and tiredness gone to give way to deep orbs filled with multiple emotions.

"He's done nothing wrong in this world so why should I kill him? He's pure and untainted and-"

"His father had a lot of debts unpaid, and he isn't aware."

"Well maybe if we told him-"

"No Taehyung we kill him."

"This is so unfair!" he shouts, a tear streaming down his eye.

Hoseok gives him a steady gaze before reminding him "The world is unfair."

With that, Taehyung huffs through his nostrils and stalks away.

Why? Why does he have to do this? Jimin's innocent.

He doesn't deserve anything cruel.
