Sapphire St. Clair's POVIt's been three days since my husband left for Hawaii to fix the issue with the land he recently purchased. We rarely talked over the phone since he left. The huge time difference was the biggest hindrance in our communication plus the fact that his mobile device was always turned off because of the series of meetings he had back there.
Right now, I am tempted to call him but I just calculated the time in Hawaii right this moment and I cursed softly it's morning in the Pacific he must be busy again with his work I don't want to disturb him.
I walked around in the living room of our penthouse in Athens. It's already late I should go to bed but I want to hear his voice. I miss him terribly. I wished the crisis in Hawaii would be soon over and Loukas could go home.
I reluctantly went to bed missing my husband sleeping next to me, hoping when I woke up in the morning he would be here in our bedroom waiting for me to wake up. I hugged his pillow relishing the scent he left while I surrendered to sleep.
I woke up the following morning with a slight pain in my left stomach. My muscles probably became stiff with my position while sleeping last night. I slid off the bed still feeling gloomy at the thought that Loukas hadn't called me throughout the day even with no messages on my mobile. I guessed the emergency in Hawaii isn't resolved yet.
I did my morning routine of taking a quick shower, brushing my teeth, and looking for comfortable clothes as I tried to lift my mood. I decided to go out and visit the town's market so I could distract myself from the fact that my husband was still abroad for his business.
But before I could even finish my breakfast the throbbing in my stomach intensified. At first, I thought it was only a bowel movement since I was constipated lately. I went to the lavatory to check but my eyes widened when I saw blood discharge.
Oh no, my baby. I thought fearfully.
With shaking hands, I dialed Loukas's number frantically as my heart raced in my chest. Damn it, his phone was busy. I was directed to a voicemail. "Loukas, if you heard this please call me immediately."
After leaving a message in his voicemail I dialed his secretary. He might not be aware that I was trying to call him at his private number.
"I need to talk to my husband. Where is he?" I said as soon as she answered my phone call.
"He's in the middle of a meeting with the locals and his lawyers. He says he doesn't wish to be disturbed by anyone." She answered with her no-nonsense voice.
"Even his wife?" I asked in disbelief.
"His orders, ma'am." She said shortly. "Is there something you want to say to him? I can tell him after his meeting, Mrs. Spiridakou."
"Tell him it's an emergency."
"All right, ma'am." Loukas' secretary had said, after a few moments, she was back in the line. "Mr. Spiridakou said that he will call you later."
"Fine." I closed my eyes, trying to calm my breathing as I disconnected the phone conversation. When I couldn't bear the pain in my stomach I dialed Loukas' cousin, Dionne. "It's me. Are you busy? Can you help me? Please come over as soon as you can."
I leaned on the headboard of our bed as I waited for Dionne to arrive. Dear God, I prayed reverently. Don't let anything happen to my baby.
After a few moments, Loukas' cousin arrived looking frantically at me. "Goodness, Sapphire! What's wrong?"
I tried to sit up straight on the bed when I saw her in the bedroom doorway, she was immediately on my side to support me. "H-Help me to the hospital...I...I can't take it anymore...Aww!"
