Sapphire St. Clair's POV

I sat on the beachside watching the waves rippling gently on the sands. The sky was the clearest blue sky you would see in the summertime while several seagulls flew overhead. This was what my soul needed at the moment tranquility of my surroundings.

I woke up early since still didn't know how to deal with my ex-husband who was still asleep in the living room when I tiptoed out of the villa. I need a good run on the seashore to clear my head. Thankfully, I found my old running outfits in my closet. I was still really stunned when he told me he still kept all my clothes here I was fully expecting him to throw my wardrobes as soon as I left him.

Now I sat here probably waiting for a boat or water taxi to take me back to the city. I have work tomorrow. This was the crucial time for the store to slowly build its reputation overseas as one of the best jewelry makers in the world.

"I thought you already left." I stiffened when he unexpectedly sat beside me on the white sands his arms resting on his knees as we watched the calm waves of the ocean in silence. He was still wearing the sweatpants and white t-shirt I gave him last night.

"I'm still waiting for the water taxi." I lied, gazing straight ahead to the vast sea before us. But the truth was, despite my determination to leave this private island as soon as possible since it only reminds me of bittersweet memories I'd rather forget I was in on worry to take my leave.

"Why don't we start over, Sapphire?"

I turned to face him in surprise. I think I didn't hear what he just said. "What did you say? I think I didn't catch that one."

He looked at me with seriousness on his face, it seemed that his gaze penetrated deep inside my soul. "Let's start over." He repeated calmly.

I shook my head while running my finger through my hair. "I don't think I understand."

"Don't play coy, Sapphire." He said, never refusing to release me from his forceful gaze. I couldn't look away even if I wanted to. "You do know very well what I mean."

"Why?" I asked, close to a whisper as I searched for an answer to his face harsh face.

"Don't you think our relationship deserves a second chance?" He demanded, his eyes glinting under the Greek sun. "After you abruptly ended it? I think you owe it to me."

I shook my head again as my heart tightened on my chest. "We cannot just pick up where we left off two years ago. Everything has changed, Loukas. I cannot give you the heir you and your family always wanted from the start. You should find another woman to give you that."

The expression on his face tensed, from the grim set of his mouth I was aware that he would back off without a fight. "It doesn't matter if you can't have babies anymore. It's just you that I always wanted, Sapphire. How can you be so cruel to deny that to me?"

Hot tears threatened to escape my eyes but I held them in check. "You are only saying that now. What if a few years from now you will realize that you still want children and you are stuck with your barren wife what will you do then?"

"If you want to bring children into our relationship, then, by all means, let's adopt or seek modern methods to have children of our own but never leave me again."

There was something in my chest that lit with his words, however, I extinguished any fire it started I don't want to have false hope with his words. How easy he made it sound when we both know it's far more complicated than that. "Why are you so stubborn about this?" I asked him helplessly. "Why do you want to torment ourselves with this? You deserve a woman who is not broken like me while I deserve to start a new life without being reminded what I cannot desperately have."
