Sapphire St. Clair's POV
I didn't trust the grin on my elder sister's face as she went inside my office. From the look on her face, she intended to get as every information as she could extract from me as possible.
"Look," I said almost immediately as soon as she firmly closed the door behind her. "I don't want to be rude but I don't have time to chat with you right now," I informed Amethyst without even lifting my eyes from the documents on my table. I hastily sort them out for the meeting later. "I need to prepare for the board meeting."
My sister chuckled taking the seat across my table once she was seated comfortably she crossed her legs from the other. "Don't me, Sapphire."
"Amy."
"Sap." She echoed with a knowing look on her smiling face. "If you think you can send me away after this morning spectacle you need to think twice."
I felt that my cheeks were hearted at her words. I knew that no office gossip escaped my family. I wonder how Granddad would react to this. "I don't know what you mean."
Amethyst made herself more comfortable on the office chair. "It seems that my sisters are getting lovebugs lately. No wonder Daniel seems to be in a good mood these past few days don't get me wrong that's a good thing since he will forget about me."
I finally looked at her for the very first time since she arrived in my office with a frown on my face. "What do you mean?"
She gave me a saccharine smile. "Oh? You haven't heard yet? I am not surprised though given that you are also busy with your own love life, sissy."
"What do you mean, Em?" I asked in confusion. She's not making any sense here. "Are you talking about Ruby and Roman? Is Ruby finally pregnant with their first child?"
"What? No!" It was my sister's turn to scowl in my direction. "I am not talking about them. I am talking about Emerald and her little encounter with Prince Khalil. Everyone in the lobby who witnesses their unexpected happenstance will agree that there's something about them when they're in each other's company."
I raised an eyebrow in her direction as I sat on my chair and continued to sort the documents at my table. My head was throbbing with lack of sleep last night. I seriously need another cup it seems that my brain was not working at all. "You mean mutual hatred for each other?"
"Nope." Amethyst contradicted, with a strange smile on her face that I don't understand. "It was not hatred, mind you. It was something more, I saw it myself a while ago with my own eyes it was something more dangerous, I fear."
"You are not making any sense," I informed her with irritation in my voice. "Stop saying riddles and just tell me straight to the point."
She rolled her eyes at me as if I was being ridiculous here. "What's wrong with you today? It seems that your sharp brain isn't working quite well this morning..." she gave me a malicious look. "...not that I can blame you. It seems to me that you had a quiet night last night. Didn't sleep a wink, Sappy?"
I avoided her knowing gaze. Trust my elder sister to think that she's being witty right now. "I don't know what the hell you are talking about, Miss Know-it-all."
"Oh, that's certainly me, dear sister." She had the nerve to grin in my direction. "Now back to Emerald and Prince Khalil..." She moved closer to my table her green eyes gleaming with delight. "...I saw with my very own eyes beneath that deep hatred they have for each other there are sparks and it is far more dangerous."
I couldn't help the astonishing shock on my face at her revelation. I couldn't believe my ears. "No way!"
"Yes, Sapphire. Believe me, there's a thin line between love and hate."
