When I woke up the next morning I was beyond tired. Even though I tried to tell myself not to think too much into what happened, I was up all night doing just that. I couldn't help but have my mind wander back to last night's events and what could possibly happen when I was gonna see Mr. Greenfield again.
I still hadn't found many answers to all my questions though. Why did he help me when I was sick and didn't just leave? Why did he even come and pick me up? And why did my drunk self choose to call him in the first place? My freaking boss, who I had only been working for, for a week. I really didn't have a clue what had gotten into me. I'm used to embarassing myself but what I did last night was really unlike me. I was more than scared about what he was thinking of me now. Not only must I seem completely unprofessional but also like a desperate mess. What PA would drunkenly call their billionaire boss? I was pretty sure that I was screwed and this was gonna be my last day at work. When I was getting ready, for a second I honestly considered calling in sick and just leaving the city. I didn't want to chicken out though and make people think even worse of me. And for some reason I also couldn't just leave things like that, because the one thing I was wondering about most was why Mr. Greenfield would even bother helping me out the tiniest bit.

I chose quite a casual outfit, really not feeling like squeezing into a tight skirt or some heels today.

When I arrived at the office, I took a deep breath as the elevator arrived at the top floor and. I stepped out and greeted Mrs. Tilton, asking her if she had any mail for me. "No mail. Just this folder. Mr. Greenfield said that you should go through it and make notes if you have any questions or find mistakes. His meeting with Mr. Seaton is gonna be over in about an hour" she explained to me. "Thank you Mrs. Tilton" I told her as I grabbed the paperwork that Mr. Greenfield had left for me. "You're welcome. And please, call me Mary" she then said and I nodded with a smile, before making my way into my office. I didn't know whether to be happy about not seeing Mr. Greenfield yet, or not. I was gonna have to face him sooner or later anyways.

I was done with everything after a little more than two hours. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't do it extra slow, wanting to delay seeing Mr. Greenfield again. I sighed as I got up and decided to just get it over with quickly, since I was only getting more nervous by the second.

I walked over to his office and knocked at the door, waiting for his answer before I went in.
"Good morning. I'm uhm I'm done with what you gave me to go through. My notes are in there as well" I told him as I handed him the folder, not really holding any eye contact for too long. "I'll go through them" Mr. Greenfield stated as he took it from me. "The meeting with Lennard Seaton went pretty well. He's agreed to most of our propositions. Here are some contract changes we made." He told me as he handed some handwritten notes to me. "Update the contract and then e-mail it to me so I can send it to Mr. Seaton as soon as possible" he added and I nodded as I kept my eyes on the paper in my hand. "Well? Do you need anything...?" Mr. Greenfiled asked me, raising his eyebrows as I was just standing there. "Oh..uhm...no. Sorry" I mumbled and shook my head, turning around and walking towards the door. I was really surprised that he acted like nothing happened. I had been pretty certain that he was gonna yell at me or at least mention it in some way. Did he want me to say anything? I bit my lip and decided to keep my mouth shut as I left the room.

When I got back to my office, I sat down and took a moment to take a breath. Did he really just completely ignore what happened only a night ago? I had prepared myself  for a long lecture about  professionalism or to get yelled at or something. The last thing I expected Mr. Greenfield to do though, was to just not say anything at all. Maybe it was for the best if I just forgot about it and acted like it never happened as well.

Each following day went by with me waiting for at least some kind of reaction from Mr. Greenfield, but there was nothing. Not a tiny, single hint. All he did was give me brief orders in the morning and then I wouldn't see him for pretty much most of the day. It was honestly killing me. How could he just act like nothing happened? Like he didn't get, just so he could take me home in the middle of the night. Like he didn't watch me throw up while he held my hair and rubbed my back. Like he didn't help me into bed because I could barely walk. Like he didn't help me take off my shirt and saw me in nothing but my underwear. And most importantly, like he didn't get into bed next to me when I drunkenly told him to stay.

It confused me because he seemed to be caring and nice that night and now he was just being his usual ignorant and egoistic self.
It was Friday and four more days had gone by without any word about that night.

I was torn out of my thoughts by a knock at my door.
"Oh thank god it's you" I said relieved, as Luke walked into my office. "Well hi to you too, love. That's how I always want to be greeted from now on" he chuckled and walked over to me. "Don't feel special. I would've greeted anyone, who's not Mr. Greenfield, like this" I told him as I closed my laptop. "You mean Alexander?" He teased me and wriggled his eyebrows at me with a grin. "You're an idiot" I mumbled and rolled my eyes at him. "Sorry. I couldn't resist. But seriously. I didn't come here to tease you. Well maybe partly...But tell me, is big boss still acting all arrogant and well, bossy?" He asked me and I nodded, sighing. "Well at least you don't have to deal with the awkward conversation..." Luke then told me and shrugged. "Yeah I'm not sure if that's really a good thing" I said and frowned. "Tomorrow is gonna be even worse. A whole evening of watching him act as arrogant as he always is and everyone admiring him and practically sticking their faces up his ass" I muttered annoyed and ran a hand through my hair.

"His really well formed, sexy ass you meant" Luke added with a smirk and chuckled softly, making me shake my head at him as I laughed.
"Stop joking around and tell me how I am supposed to survive tomorrow" I then whined as I looked up at him kinda desperately. "Well I would gladly join you in watching our hot boss, wearing a nice suit for a whole evening, if that would help? Are you allowed to bring a plus one, babe?" He asked me and I shrugged. "That's actually a really good idea though. I'll ask Mr. Greenfield if I can bring a date" I said and winked at Luke as I put the emphasis on 'date'. "Yeah I haven't been on a date with a female in like decades" he responded with a laugh, making me giggle. "Well I'll text you later. Now you better go or we'll get yelled at again" I told him as I waved for him to leave.
"I'm already gone" he called as he put his hands up in defense and then left with a smile.

When I was done with work for today, I made my way to Mr. Greenfield's office. "Uhm sir I was wondering if I'm able to bring someone to the gala tomorrow" I asked him as I stood in the doorway. Mr. Greenfield looked up from his laptop a little surprised and seemed to think about it for a moment.
"You can. But don't forget that this is still a work event after all" he told me and I nodded. "Uhm yeah I know? Thanks. See you tomorrow" I said a little confused, before I quickly left the office again. What did he mean with what he just said? Why did he feel the need to remind me that this was a work event? I obviously knew that. Was he trying to tell me to stay professional, other than on Friday night?
'Idiot' I thought to myself as I walked out of the building and to the bus station.

This ended up to be quite a long one so I decided to end it here. What do you think? And what are your predictions for the gala?
