Chapter 26

Kazuto's POV
30th of May 2025
10am

"Come on, Kaz, you can do it!" Eugeo shouts as he stands at the end of the platform. I try to walk without holding the bars, though it kind makes me walk wobbly. Eugeo keeps on cheering at me with punching the air.

When I reach the end of the route, Eugeo jumps excitedly. "You did it!" He exclaims. I chuckle as I feel my legs start to feel weak, I hold the railing. "Oh! You okay?" He immediately runs to me and holds my shoulder to balance me.

"Y-Yeah, just tired." I say.

"Let's take a break shall we?" He suggests, but before I answer it, he already leads me to one of the benches near us. "There you go."

"Thanks." I say while rubbing my right leg.

"You did a good job for today, Kaz." He says putting his hand in his waist. "Even the Doc agreed to it yesterday." I only nod my head. "Don't worry, you'll be able to walk normally before summer." He continues.

"I just wish time goes faster..." I mumble.

"Be patient, Kaz." Eugeo holds my shoulder.

I take a deep breath and nod my head again. "Wakatta." I say. "Come on, let's do it one more time."

"Yosh, let's go!" He helps me stand up and lead me to the platform again.

30 minutes later

We leave the gym room with me using a walking stick. "Already done?" Ka-chan asks when we take a seat on the couch in the living room.

"Yeah. Just took a bath." I answer putting my walking stick beside me.

"Sokka. Don't push yourself too much, okay?" Ka-chan says as she pats my head.

"Wakatta." I say letting her touch my hair.

"Well, I'm going out to have meeting. You boys be good." She says before she bents down to kiss my cheek and Eugeo's.

"See you later, Mom." He says waving his hand at Ka-chan as she walks out of the house.

"Now what are we supposed to do?" He asks once the doors closed.

"Don't look at me." I say before I turn on the TV to watch some news.

"Oh, now I remember!" He says snapping his fingers. "Yesterday, I asked one of the employees in the office. And he said that there's a shop that sells swords."

"A sword you say?" I turn to him.

"Uh huh. It's quite near here, actually." He picks up a magazine.

"Maybe I'll go check it sometimes." I say turning to the TV.

VZZT VZZT

"It's yours~" Eugeo sings. "Now that I gave it to you, it always keeps on buzzing." I ignore his comment as I take it out of my pocket. "Is it the Princess?"

"Will you shut up, Eugeo?" I say before accepting the call. He lets out a snicker. "Hey, Asuna."

"So, it is her." Eugeo says.

"Shut. Up." I hiss. He laughs before throwing the magazine to the table and go to the kitchen.

"Was that Eugeo?"

"Yeah. What's up? I thought you're supposed to be at school today." I mute the TV.

"Something was up in school. So, the teacher told us to go home early."

"Something?"

"I dunno. Probably a teacher meeting." 

"Sokka." I see Eugeo walking back to the living room carrying a drink and a sketch book. I eye him suspiciously as he gives me his usual smirk.
