Touch

It was a chilly Saturday night in Gravity Falls, Oregon. Since Mabel and her friends were having a sleepover back at the Mystery Shack, Dipper had decided to head to Greasy's Diner to enjoy the semi-peaceful time he was going to have before he had to return to the girlish hell he was forced to suffer through.

Pacifica Northwest sat in Greasy's Diner by herself, mascara running down her cheeks. Her bleach blonde hair was up in a messy bun and she was wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, definitely not the usual attire. But she didn't care. She was holding a snotty tissue in her hand, just wishing that people would stop staring. Her boyfriend had dumped her for some other girl, and she was miserable. Though her parents told her she had to behave like she was better than everyone, including him, she treated him well. Better than he treated her, to be honest. She heard the bell chime as Dipper Pines walked into the diner. She didn't give him a second glance, just continued to wait for Lazy Susan to bring her mocha latté. However, Dipper noticed her pretty quickly. He could barely believe his eyes- Pacifica would have never gone out looking like that on a regular basis! Though he disliked her strongly, he still felt a tiny part of him that wanted to help her.

As he walked, he could help but stop and stare at her. "What are you looking at?!" She snapped at him, making him avert his gaze for a minute. She blew her nose in a big snotty burst and tried to wipe the mascara off her cheeks. Without being invited, Dipper sat down across from her.

"I didn't ask you to sit down,"

"I know. But you look like you could use a friend."

"Dipper, I'm aware you don't like me."

"That's not true, I just don't... Really... Know you..."

It clicked in Dipper's mind that he didn't really hate her too much, he was just convinced he did because she used to bully Mabel. Now that the two of them were friends, he didn't feel as harshly about her. She was alright, and even in the state she was in, he couldn't deny that she was beautiful, with her sky blue eyes and perfect blonde hair and a gorgeous smile...

No! Dipper snapped at himself all of the sudden You're not in love with her!

Pacifica tilted her head to the side a little, confused by Dipper's words. She didn't believe them to be true, but she really wanted to.

"So what's wrong?"

"My uh... My boyfriend dumped me."

"Really? That sucks."

"'That sucks' is all you have to say for yourself? Don't you know what it's like to be rejected by someone you're in love with?"

Dipper stared at her for a moment as more tears came to her eyes. He was debating whether or not he should tell her about the whole Wendy situation.

"I do, actually. You know the girl who works at the Mystery Shack?"

"The lumberjack's daughter?" Pacifica scoffed, wiping her eyes and proceeding to fold her arms. Why was she so disgusted by the mention of Wendy? She wasn't even putting on her parents' act. She wouldn't have been crying in a public restaurant if she had been.

"Yes, her." Dipper responded harshly "I really really liked her. Like, I adored her. We were super close friends and I wanted to date her badly. But I accidentally confessed my love for her, and she... She dismissed it, I guess."

Pacifica stared at him for a minute, and then leaned over the table to kiss his cheek. His entire face went red as he did so. Why was she doing this all of the sudden?

"You're a great guy, Dipper." She told him "Wendy doesn't deserve you." She put her hand on his, making his face become a deeper shade of red. He knew if Mabel were there, she would have been mocking him and ruining the moment between him and Pacifica. He felt kind of warm and fuzzy, like he was wrapped in a warm fleecy blanket. He could tell Pacifica felt the same. He knew the feeling came from her, because this wasn't the first time he'd felt it. When they were driving Pacifica home one night after the golf war she and Mabel had, Pacifica's arm had brushed up against his. Another time she bumped into him after hanging out with Mabel, and he felt it. When he was with her, he felt extraordinary.

"Would you like to stay and chat with me? I'll get you anything you want." Pacifica said "It's all on me." Dipper smiled gratefully, trying to tell himself that the kiss he received was just friendly, between friends. He didn't want to admit it, but he had a crush forming.

"Thanks, Pacifica."

The two of them spent the rest of the evening telling stories and laughing, just enjoying each other's company. The two of them went home that night with the warm, fuzzy feeling lingering in their hearts. That one touch made a big difference between the two of them. Every time they touched, something felt right. It all just made sense. Maybe... I don't need Wendy. Dipper told himself Maybe... I have someone new...
