The First Date

Dipper clutched his phone in his sweaty hands. Half a million butterflies were fluttering around in his stomach and his mouth was dry. But that wasn't going to stop him, he was going to ask Pacifica out on a date. Mabel sat on her bed, watching him intently. He had told her everything, and she was the one who had urged him to make the call. Even if Pacifica had been rude to her in the past, Mabel knew that Dipper and Pacifica would be cute together.

"Come on, Dippingsauce," She pressured "Just dial the number."

"I'm n-not sure I want to do this anymore."

"Dipper!" Mabel complained "You know you want to date Pacifica, and not asking her out is not going to help you. You can do it, bro bro!"

Dipper glanced at her and then back at the phone before dialing Pacifica's number and holding the phone up to his ear.

It rang once. Twice. Three times. Finally, she picked up. "Pacifica Northwest speaking," she answered, her voice sounding light and airy. Dipper took a huge breath before starting to speak. "Hey Pacifica, it's uh... Dipper." He cringed, waiting for her to hang up on him. But she didn't. "Dipper?" She said, her voice sounding excited "Hey! What's up?" Dipper gulped as Mabel urged him on with a huge smile. He tried his best to avoid Mabel's eyes, they would just add to his nervousness. "I was um... Wondering if maybe you and I could... If we would ever... I um... I was wondering if you wanted go to the movies with me sometime or something!" He spoke quickly, and cringed again. He doubted she was going to say yes, and he was really close to flubbing it a little as he said it. He heard an excited squeal from Pacifica's end. "I would love to!" She gushed, and then cleared her throat "I mean uh... Whatever."

"What movie do you want to see?"

"Are you into horror?"

"Yeah, I guess so."

"Great! There's this new movie out about this teenage girl who's house is filled with ghosts and everyone in town gets inhabited by one and... Jeez, I probably sound like a lunatic."

"No, no! It's cool. So what time do you want me to pick you up at?"

"Six would be great."

"Alright, see you then!" Click! Mabel let out a shriek of delight. Dipper had actually done it! She starting dancing around with glee. It was embarrassing for Dipper, but he didn't care. He had just asked out Pacifica, and that was something he was pretty proud of. Nothing else really mattered at that moment, just the fact that he was actually going on a date with Pacifica Northwest. A few weeks ago, he couldn't have even seen himself wanting to go anywhere near the wealthy blonde, but after getting to know her, she wasn't that bad. Just misunderstood, really. So he spent the rest of the day planning everything for the date, including what he was going to do and say.

''Wow Dip,'' Mabel remarked as Dipper walked into the room they shared. His hair was still wet from the shower he had just taken, but he wore a wide smile. ''Showering and all? This date with Pacifica must be super duper important to you.'' Dipper laughed a little and punched her arm, knowing that she was just saying that teasingly. ''Don't do that to prove your manliness, by the way, because I know kittens who punch harder than you!'' She giggled, punching his arm back twice as hard as she had punched his.

''Kittens don't punch, Mabel.''

''But what if they do?''

Dipper rolled his eyes at his sister's comment and slipped on his navy blue jacket. He looked at himself in the mirror, hoping that he looked both casual and acceptable at the same time. He smiled at his reflection and ran downstairs. Soos had agreed to drive Dipper and Pacifica to the movies in his pick-up truck, so they were all set. Plus, it would be less embarrassment for Dipper if Soos drove them instead of Grunkle Stan. When he got down, Wendy stopped him just before he could run out the gift shop's door. ''Whoa, dude, where are you going in such a hurry?''
