Steal A Kiss

"Hey bro bro, what's up? Who are you texting? It's like ten o'clock at night." Mabel asked her brother sleepily, yawning a little. Her stuffed tiger was nice and snug in her arms, and the blankets were pulled up over her comfortably. She would have been able to fall right asleep if Dipper wasn't still texting on his phone.

"Sorry, Mabel. I'm just texting Pacifica." He apologized, putting his phone down on the bedside table "I just sent her a good night next with a heart... Was that too much?" Mabel smiled a little, knowing that Dipper had been stressing every little thing that he said or did with Pacifica. She was okay with the two of them liking each other, even if Pacifica had been mean in the past, she had made an exception because she was nicer now. And because Dipper really needed a girlfriend and she was probably the only one up for the job. Of course, Dipper and Pacifica weren't dating quite yet, they had had a total of four dates so far, all of which had seemed to go well. Dipper always came home flustered but ridiculously cheerful. She couldn't help but wonder when her brother was going to step up his game.

"Hey, Dip," She called over to him, her voice soft and gentle so Grunkle Stan couldn't hear "Do you think you're going to kiss Pacifica any time soon?" This immediately caused Dipper's face to heat up. Mabel could have sworn that his face was redder than an enraged Bill Cipher. Why did he seem so embarrassed about kissing? Mabel thought it was one of the most romantic things in the world, her first kiss with Mermando had made her crave more kisses. She even liked to see other people kissing, and she knew that other people would be having the same amazing feeling that she had during her first kiss. Besides, Dipper had never kissed a girl before, not once. Pretty girls never threw themselves at him, not even the nerdy girls seemed to be interested. They all thought he was strange, or crazy, or just plain annoying. She could co-sign on the annoying part, but otherwise, she didn't find him to be crazy or strange at all. Or maybe she was just used to it.

"I don't know..." Dipper admitted, shuffling around in his bed "I mean, it's not that I don't want to, it's just that I don't want to mess it up. I don't even know if she wants to kiss me. What if she doesn't?" The room was dark, but it gave more feeling to their deep conversation. And it convinced their grumpy great-uncle that they were asleep already. He was easily fooled when it came to getting the twins to sleep.

"Dipper, she really seems to like you." Mabel told him, rolling over onto her left side "Just... Steal a kiss, maybe. A simple, quick peck on the lips should do it. That way, you'll know. Girls like it when you make the first move, especially if you're usually a very shy and reserved guy." Dipper couldn't help but wonder if Mabel's advice would actually work. He wanted to ask her more questions about what to say and do, but he could tell that she was tired. And that she just wanted to sleep. He respected that, and tried to fall asleep as well.

Unfortunately, he was nowhere near as successful as his softly snoring sister. Thoughts bounced through his mind, most of them about kissing and Pacifica and how nervous he was for everything that was to come between the two of them. He wasn't sure why he thought he was ready for any of this, but in a way, he kind of did feel ready. It was an awkward mixture of feelings that made him feel tense. Not that he wasn't usually tense, anyways. He stayed up for two more hours, still trying to go to sleep. Each hour felt like ten hours, not the two that it really had been. When Dipper finally got to sleep, it wasn't good sleep, and of course he had a dream.

He was sitting with Pacifica in the movie theatres again, he wasn't sure why this was the venue again, but he didn't question it. He was too interested in what was happening with Pacifica. She was staring in to his brown eyes and blushing, and he was staring back in to her eyes. She seemed to be leaning closer to him, getting closer to closer to his mouth. Her lips looked soft, and she looked like the kind of person who kissed gently, too. He started to lean. Dipper was starting to feel a bit nauseous as their foreheads touched, and they twisted their heads a little. He didn't want to do anything he'd regret. He noticed that she had shut her eyes, so he shut his, too. Kissing with your eyes open was like flat-out admitting that you didn't like someone like you convinced them you did. Bruno Mars had taught him that one with the song "Grenade". He tried to imagine what her lips would feel like against his, a mess of soft, tiny, pink mouths that belonged to two people who all of Gravity Falls thought would never be interested in each other. The fancy rich girl and the mystery hunter from Piedmont. Their lips were just about to touch when Dipper's eyes flicked open.

3:30 AM. More time to sleep. He would never know if the kiss had gone well, but he knew that if he wanted to figure it out, he'd have to kiss Pacifica herself. No kiss-stealing like Mabel had suggested.

He wanted the kiss to be long. Passionate. Meaningful. It couldn't be just any kiss.

Pacifica wasn't 'just'.

She was Pacifica, the gorgeous girl who Dipper thought he'd never have a chance with.
