Beneath The Blankets

"How did you even manage to get so wet?" Dipper snickered as Pacifica peeled her jacket off her skin.

"I fell in a puddle, jerk face." She huffed, sticking out her bottom lip in to a pout. "I can't believe we even got away like that."

"Yeah, but the important thing is that we did it."

"I guess so. My parents should have known better than to send Mildred after me rather than going after me themselves. I wonder if they're getting tired of chasing after me." She remarked, sighing a little bit, "Do you have any extra clothes that I could borrow?"

"M-my clothes?" He gulped, a blush crossing his face as he stared at her. Why was the idea of her wearing his clothes the kind of thing that'd make him blush?

"Mabel's, actually." She said calmly, "I don't want you to be up all night thinking about me."

He wanted to object to that statement, even if it was true. He didn't want her to know how much he really thought about her because he wasn't really sure what they were. Too young to date, too old to just be friends. He thought as he nodded before turning to make his way up the stairs. He climbed the stairs quickly and pulled out the most normal clothes from Mabel's suitcase- a plain purple sweater and white shorts. (Mabel actually owned shorts?! This surprised him.) He rushed back downstairs and handed her the clothing.

"Oh great," she huffed, rolling her eyes. "I get to wear one of your sister's oh so comfortable sweaters." She took the clothing from his hands and slipped in to the shack's bathroom to get changed. The minute the door shut, he felt himself sigh. Perhaps it was relief, or maybe it was just a sigh for the sake of sighing. He just felt like he was in the mood to do so. He figured Pacifica would be in the mood to just relax after their escape from her maid Mildred, so he decided to pull out some blankets and put on Ghost Harassers. He pressed the power button, causing Grunkle Stan's old TV to flicker to life. He laid the blankets down on the seat of the old chair that sat in the living room, and just simply waited.

Meanwhile, Pacifica was still in the bathroom, just pulling the purple sweater over her head. Though she would never admit it to Mabel, it was actually quite warm and not all that itchy. In a way, it kind of reminded her of her childhood too. She loved to have bulky sweaters when she was young, but her parents insisted that she couldn't have any- though that didn't stop her servants from sneaking her a few to wear when her parents weren't home. In general, she just felt as if she had been overwhelmed with a wave of comfort. She looked so normal and casual- her hair had fallen flat, she wasn't wearing any make-up, and she was wearing regular clothing. Or... A clothing item as normal as any clothing item owned by Mabel Pines could be.

"Okay," She sighed gently, flipping her wet hair over to one side. "Let's go relax with Dipper. No problems, just fun." Somehow, it was hard to convince herself that there wouldn't be problems. It was if her issues were a giant monster that chased her around constantly, and even if she were to relax with Dipper she'd still feel it looming over her. Though her comfort levels were indescribable, there was still the little portion of her mind that warned her of what could come. She was concerned about turning around to find out. Still, she knew she had to bravely push through it.

She exited the bathroom standing proudly, as if nothing was wrong at all. After all, nothing was really supposed to be wrong. She walked in to the living room to see Dipper sitting in the old chair with some blankets and Ghost Harassers on TV. "Is this your big plan? To sit around and watch TV?" She questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"Well what other plan do we have? We need something to entertain ourselves with. Besides, don't act like you're not shivering like crazy." Dipper remarked, rolling his eyes a little bit. "There's some space on the chair next to me, if you'd like to come sit down."
