meadow wilson was a quite ordinary teenager, she was a cheerleader, she lived in a perfect neighborhood, with perfect parents and perfect friends. or so it seemed, her neighborhood was being infested with drugs, her father was an alcoholic and her mother took a hit to the face once every week. meadow's friends were constantly doped out, mostly on heroin, but there was the occasional crack that made an appearance. meadow's school was about to be shut down, forcing all the children in the neighborhood to scramble and find a new high school.

and overall, meadow wilson was quite miserable, until a new boy came along.

"hello, class," miss harrison sighed as she grabbed the attendance paper. "how are we doing today?"

the class simply stared at her, half of them too high to answer, the other half too tired.

"alright," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes and calling the names of students before she paused. "...zachary herron?"

a brunette boy looked up, giving a slight smile that had half the girls in the class swooning. "that'd be me." he hummed, a slight accent hanging on to his words.

this just made half the girls in the class fall in love with a boy they barely knew.

meadow, however, looked at him and decided he'd be doped out in approximately two hours, rolling her eyes and looking down at her homework from third period.

she hadn't gotten it done yesterday, so she hoped she'd be able to get it done during first and second period.

zach noticed the brunette girl hadn't swooned like the others, and he decided he liked her as soon as he saw her roll her eyes.

so, as soon as lunch came around, with meadow staring at her new homework and her friends gathering around her, zach walked over, smiling at meadow. "hi, uh- i'm zach, from your homeroom? i'm new." he laughed slightly, quite obviously awkward about the whole ordeal.

he may have been a thousand year old vampire, but meeting new people was always awkward.

one of her cheerleader friends looked up, gasping and hitting meadow's shoulder to signal that she wanted the brunette girl to move over. "hi!" the cheerleader giggled as meadow scooted over. "uh, do you have anywhere you're looking to sit today? because, we have an open spot-" the girl looked around, as if she were looking for an open spot at the table before looking to her side. "oh, right next to me!"

meadow rolled her eyes at her friends antics, huffing as zach gladly took a seat next to her, disappointing meadow's friend by immediately turning his head to meadow and sticking his hand out to her, "hi, i'm zach."

meadow looked up from her homework, staring at him for a moment before slowly shaking his hand, "meadow." she mumbled shortly before turning back to her paper, grabbing her pencil once again and tapping it against the table, then her forehead, then her temple.

zach glanced over, biting his lip, "it's 67.2- line over the two though, it repeats." he mumbled.

meadow glanced up at him, her pencil being set back down on the table, but this time she gave him a smile instead of rolling her eyes or turning away. "thanks," she mumbled, quickly writing the answer and rushing through the work to prove that she had totally gotten that on her own before moving on to the next problem all the way up until the last question on the paper.
