five year old ian giggled as he ran around the yard, salem watching him from the porch.
kiernan walked out, sniffling and wiping her eyes. "ian!" she called, her voice cracking slightly. salem looked up, staring at her silently.
nick looked up when her voice cracked, furrowing his eyebrows. "what's wrong, spellman?"
kiernan shook her head, ian giggling and running over, she smiled sadly and picked the boy up.
ian frowned at her tears, wiping them away with his hand. "'s okay, momma." he smiled, resting his head on her chest.
kiernan closed her eyes, sighing and walking inside. "you know how i said daddy's gonna be home soon, ian?"
ian nodded quickly, "is he home, momma? is daddy here?"
kiernan sniffled, shaking her head. "daddy's not coming home anymore, ian."
ian frowned, looking at kiernan. "daddy left? b-but daddy said he loves us.."
"he does, ian." kiernan nodded softly, "he loves us a lot..but daddy's not....he's not able to come home anymore."
"why not?" ian frowned, tears gathering in his eyes.
"daddy got hurt," kiernan whispered, holding one of ian's hands in hers. "and he can't come home anymore because he got hurt really bad."
ian kept his frown, looking up at nick as he sighed. "can i talked to him, kiernan?"
kiernan sniffled, nodding and handing ian to him.
ian smiled slightly, resting his head on nick's chest instead.
nick's lip twitched slightly, refraining from smiling softly. "your dad, he's..uh....well, a bad person decided he shouldn't live anymore..so they killed him."
ian stared up at nick, frowning. "daddy's dead?"
nick bit his cheek, nodding softly. "your daddy's dead."
more tears were gathering in ian's eyes, nick sighing and letting the boy hide in his chest.
"f-forever?"
"forever."
