"what're you looking at?" jack hummed, watching brisa stare out the window.

"i'm lookin' for the hummingbirds!" brisa smiled, not looking away from the window.

jack furrowed his eyebrows, slowly sitting next to brisa. "why're you looking for the hummingbirds?"

"'cause i wanna see anything!" brisa hummed, looking up at jack for a second before looking out the window.

jack stared at her for a moment, "..what?"

"harper told me that if i could see a hummingbird's wings, i could see anything!" brisa smiled, slowly frowning. "but no hummingbird's come around here anymore." brisa sighed.

jack raised an eyebrow, "why not?"

"ever since we cut down the tree in the front yard they've stopped coming around. i don't know why they don't just nest in the forest..maybe the kids there scare 'em off." brisa shrugged, gasping and hitting jack's arm, pointing to the hummingbird flying past the window.

"did you see it's wings, bris?" jack questioned, looking at her.

"no," she huffed, resting her chin in her hand and staring out the window.

"you'll get it eventually." jack nodded, looking up as phoenix walked over.

"dinner time." she hummed, resting her head on jack's.

"mum, can i stay here?" brisa asked, glancing up at her before looking back to the window.

"why?" phoenix sighed, sitting next to jack.

"we're looking for hummingbirds, phee." jack smiled, watching brisa.

"...why?" phoenix asked, looking at jack.

"if you see the wings of a hummingbird, you can see anything." jack hummed, wrapping his arms around her waist.

phoenix smiled, resting her head on his shoulder as gabbie walked over.

"..why're you all staring out the window?"

"c'mere, gab!" brisa smiled, waving gabbie over without looking away from the window.

gabbie raised an eyebrow, sitting next to brisa. "what is it?"

"we're looking for hummingbirds."

"..why?" gabbie asked, even though she was pretty sure she knew the answer.

"harper told me that if you can see the wings of a hummingbird, you can see anything."

"harper told you?" gabbie questioned, "really? daniel told me." gabbie shrugged.

brisa shrugged, gasping as another hummingbird flew past. "i saw it!" she smiled, looking at gabbie.

"the hummingbird?" gabbie asked, looking at brisa.

"the wings!" brisa hummed, looking back out the window.

jack smiled, phoenix glancing at him before looking at brisa and smiling too.
