when rosaleene francis met daniel seavey, she had no idea that he would be her savior. she also had no idea that she would become his. after, of course, she found him.

see, rosaleene had met daniel in the 20s. and he had saved her life in the 20s.

-

rosaleene was dancing the night away, her dress flowing with her movements until she eventually stopped, walking over to the bar. "hello, love." she smiled, looking at the bartender.

"the same thing, as always, rosa?" ashley hummed, looking at the vampire.

"oh, yes, of course." she told the witch in front of her.

"alright, i'll get that right to you. excuse me if it's rushed, i've got to get on the stage in a few minutes." ashley told her.

"that's quite alright, ash. you're the best singer they've got here." rosaleene smiled, taking the drink from the lady once it got finished.

the substitute bartender rushed over, panting slightly from the run. rosaleene raised an eyebrow at him, looking back down to her drink.

a boy with neat hair and a suit on walked over, giving rosaleene a smile before ordering a drink.

rosaleene looked up, smiling right back, "hello." she hummed, looking at the neat hair atop his head, before grazing over his facial features.

"hello," the boy hummed, extending a hand. "daniel." he smiled.

"daniel," she repeated, shaking his hand softly, "that's a nice name."

"if you think so," he chuckled, "what's yours?"

"rosaleene." she hummed, looking up at the sign above the bartenders head.

daniel stayed silent for a moment before ashley began to sing, raising an eyebrow at rosaleene. "care to dance?"

rosaleene looked down to her drink, smiling slightly and placing it to the side, taking daniel's hand.

and with that, they danced until ashley stopped singing her blues songs.

and when she stopped singing, and they stopped dancing, they smiled at each other. and that was it.

rosaleene took a taxi home, and daniel sped to his home in illinois at the time.

did you think that was the end of the story?

-

rosaleene went to the same bar everyday, dancing the night away and getting a taxi home.

so, when rosaleene walked into the bar the next day, just to see the same boy with the neat hair and the suit, she smiled.

and once again, they met at the bar.

"goodbye, ash." rosaleene smiled, humming softly.

"hello, again." daniel hummed, walking over to the bar as the substitute bartender rushed over.

"hello." rosaleene greeted, smiling up at daniel.

and as if yesterday was repeating, ashley began to sing, earning a smile from daniel.

daniel outstretched a hand to rosaleene, smiling brightly, "care to dance?"

and so she took his hand, pushing her drink to the side, dancing until the night came to an end.

-

now, rosaleene and daniel continued this cycle for two weeks, half-way through the second week, daniel invited his brother, zach, to come to the bar with him.

although zach had a little fling with ashley, there was never anything serious there.

and so, that day, zach and ashley sang, and daniel danced with rosaleene.

until the last day of the second week. when the last song was coming to an end, a window shattered, everyone pausing before gunshots were heard.

screaming and gunshots filled rosaleene's ears as the windows all around shattered into a thousand pieces. and as daniel shielded her behind a fallen table, he took a bullet.

now, tell rosaleene, a vampire who thought that daniel was a regular vampire, that he had just taken a wooden bullet to the heart, and not died.

she would never have believed you.

so, as daniel did not get up, just staggering down.

rosaleene grabbed him, holding her to him and hiding in his neck, protecting them both behind the table until the shots ended.

until daniel seemed to be dead.

-

ashley never saw zach again, so she never got to ask the boy if his brother had really died.

but then again, she never saw rosaleene either.

after the shooting, rosaleene packed up her bags and moved to ireland, then mexico, then italy before finally returning to america, going straight to the lovely city of new orleans.

she would be lying if she had told you in these places she hadn't searched for daniel.

she searched for daniel everywhere.

he was just no where to be found, no where to be seen.

so she accepted the fact that the boy she had become so fond of, was gone.

which, of course, was not true.
