I peered through the curtains and let my eyes wander over our porch. Zach's jeep wasn't there yet, which I had already known since I hadn't heard any tires shrieking. Still, I wasn't able to fight the urge to look outside, because something seemed to bother me.

That something was definitely the bright, completely round moon that lighted up the dark sky.

I sighed, letting the curtains fall back into place. With my hand going through my slightly curled hair, I grabbed my phone from the coffee table and sat back in the couch.

Quickly, I sent Lexa a text, asking her how she was feeling.

Within a minute she replied, saying:

Feeling great, don't worry! I'll be fine, focus on your boyfriend tonight not me, K?'

Cracking a small smile and feeling a little more at ease, I put my phone away again. Keyword is 'little', as I absentmindedly kept bouncing my leg up and down, my mind running over all the things that could go wrong.

If we were unfortunate, the whole school was going to know about the existence of werewolves by the end of the night.

I lifted my head up when my brother walked into the living room, wearing a nice outfit for the party.

"What's poppin', sis, you ready to go?"

I nodded. "Yeah, but Zach isn't here yet."

Jack slipped his phone out of his pocket and checked the time. He was fifteen minutes late, I knew that, but I just shrugged as Jack rose his eyebrows at me.

While letting himself plump down on the couch next to me, he said: "If he doesn't show up I'll drive you."

I shot him a look, a soft smile playing on my lips. "That he's running late doesn't mean he's bailing," I told him.

"It better not," Jack responded, looking back at me sideways. "Wait, did you put some makeup on?"

Even though it wasn't more than just a little mascara, he had immediately taken notice of it.

"A little," I said honestly.

A grin formed on my brother's face. "And you curled your hair," he pointed out.

To cover up that I was starting to blush lightly, I rolled my eyes at him. "What's wrong with that?"

He chuckled softly. "Nothing. You look beautiful," he said, making me look up at him with a smile. "I hope Zach knows he's a lucky guy."

"Aww," I said, scooting closer to him so I could hug him. "I hope you know I'm a lucky sister."

"Damn right you are," he responded teasingly, placing his arms around my shoulders.

After my chuckling had quieted down, I let out a sigh, the worry setting in again. "Do you think Lexa's gonna be okay?" I asked him softly.

I felt his shoulders lift in a shrugging manner. "Honestly, I don't think she's ready. But like Jonah said, if she's feeling good enough then we shouldn't be stopping her. It's her choice."

I bit my inner cheek. "Even if it puts all of us into danger?"

"We'll be fine," Jack said simply. "Corbyn's with her, Jonah's at the party, you and me are also there, you've got nothing to worry about."

Not even close to convinced, I shook my head slightly. "I still don't have a good feeling about this."

When I heard a car pull up to our porch, I got out of Jack's arms and sat up. The heavy rolling of the Jeep tires across the stones and the scents that the vehicle carried within it, immediately told me it was Zach.
