The Walker Dude

The girls cautiously followed the strange guy. Clementine held Aj close to her worried about his wellbeing. Y/n couldn't bear the grunts of pain coming from the toddler's mouth. 

After a few more minutes of walking strange walker dude as, Y/n chose to refer to him in her mind, turned around pointing at a fallen tree. "There." His simple one-word sentence implied to lay Aj on it which Clementine did. Through the darkness, both girls inspected the bullet wounds and were quite horrified at how bad it looked. 

The walker dude places a torch near the tree that startling them a little. Once the two girls gave him permission to help he lifted his shirt to reveal three bullets stuck in his skin. "Get the shrapnel out." He commanded looking at Clem. "Wh--me?" She asked in disbelief. "Umm-- if-if you don't want to do it I-I-can j-just hold him down." Y/n offered hesitantly taking out her knife. Clementine nodded holding one side of Aj while Walker dude is holding the other. 

Y/n takes a deep breath shakingly reaching to the bullet closest to her. The bullet would be hard to take it out just with fingers since its too deep in. Y/n tried to gently push the bullet up with her knife. As soon as she tried to pull it out Aj let out a scream the poor boy still tried to keep quiet. The sound was heartbreaking to all three of the people. Once she finished pulling out the first bullet she let out a breath. She quickly moved to the next one repeating the process. Y/n stepped away and took a breather. 

"Trying not to be loud." Aj managed to huff out. "It's ok Aj just breathe." Clementine said. "Put your hands there to stop the bleeding." The dude continued to order. Clem also did that putting her hands on his wound putting pressure. Aj started to grunt in pain again while the guy took out the tape. "It's ok, Aj. he's just gonna patch you up." Clementine explained. The Walker dude placed the tape over the bleeding wound. "It's enough, for now." 

As soon as Clementine pulled down Aj shirt back in the place he tried to sit up. "Whoa Whoa not to fast you'll hurt yourself." Y/n said. "Where's our stuff? My gun?" He asked. "We lost it, buddy." Clem answered. "Louis and Violet ran, they're safe." He said.

"Yeah, I hope so..." Y/n sighed. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Clem rais a brow but ignored it.

Aj began to uncontrollably shiver and Clementine noticed that the walker dude started a fire few meters away from them. She picked up Aj and took him to sit down by it and Y/n sat next to him. 

There was a moment of silence and Y/n took that time to just reevaluate what has happened. Her older much older sister Lily was alive. She hoped to never see her again since she couldn't believe how heartless Lily was to leave her alone and be so selfish to take the RV when Lee was so kind as to let her stay. Her mind then jumped to the duo that tried to help and how brave it was for them to return even when they could have just ignored it since it was past the 'safe zone'. 

"I didn't mean to endanger you. The walkers were sent to help you." The Walker dude spoke. "You sent the walkers?" Clem questioned. "Was part of the group. Call themselves Whisperers. They've learned to live in herds, among walkers. Move among them. Sometimes guide them." He explained. "Why aren't you with them anymore." Y/n wondered. "They attacked a community. I saw the carnage. Didn't wanna be part of it." 

Aj started to grunt again. "Does it hurt?" Clem asked worriedly. "Hungry." He replied. The walker dude took out an apple handing it to us. Clementine thanked him, taking the apple and splitting it into three using Aj's smaller knife to do so. "Do you have a name?" She questioned. 

"Been a while."

"Since?"

"I've said it." Well, that's just sad.

The Walker dude took off his mask revealing quite good lookin' Asian boi. (A/N: It's like 1AM I'm sorry I can't function.) 

"James." He answered. "Why did you help us, James?" Clem asked. James the walker dude stood up. "The people who attacked you. What do you know about them?" 

"They steal kids. They took two last year." Clementine informed. "A common practice for them. They're up north. Their entire community against another. It's why they take people. to make them fight. Train them, use them. You would join their war."

" That's horrible." Clem shook her head glancing at tiered Aj. "Yes. That's why I helped you." 

" Thank you."Clementine thanked him again. He gave her a small hardly noticeable smile until we heard a growl of a walker. Y/n quickly passed the hunting knife to Clem who immediately stood in defence. "Wait." James stopped her before she could attack it. He offered her a rock. "Throw it. Distract him. Works just as well, and nobody gets hurt. Not us, not him" Clementine grabs it and throws it distracting the walker by the sound that's been made. "Thank you." James the walker dude said and sat back down across from half asleep Y/n and Aj.      

"It was difficult to end the herd in to save you. I didn't want them to die." There were a few seconds of silence that was then interrupted by Clem. "So James, do you just hang around saving random people?" " After I left my group, I wandered. First time alone, ever. Saw war everywhere. First against walkers. then against each other. Hoped it would be better here." He looked down. "Where are you from?" 

"Georgia." Clem replied sadly remembering her old two-floor house and her favourite place, the tree house. 

"Macon originally. What about you?" Y/ns' tiered voice was heard from besides Aj. 

"Washington." 

"The state or the City?"

"The City, Dad ran a food truck. I helped." James the waker dude smiled at the memory. Clementine turned to check Aj temperature he looked very sick leaning on her for support. "You've got a fever." She concluded. " His wound will need proper cleaning. And medicine if you're lucky enough to have any."    

"The school has medicine, but I don't think they'll share it." Clem said in thoughts of finding a solution. "That's why those people attacked you, isn't it? To get to that school." James queried. "They'll destroy whatever they find. Bring more guns more fighters. Take everyone inside."

"They won't be able to fight them off." 

"You need medicine. You have to go back. or you'll lose him." James the walker dude inferred. "We have to go back and help them we can't just leave them and get taken away by her." Y/n spoke up rubbing her eyes. Clementine nodded. "It's the right thing to do." 

"Noble of you despite their treatment... I'll help you get back past the walkers. Few more hours, and we'll go." James said examining the sleeping Aj. " And that's a few hours for me to nap." Y/n said shuffling to the other side of Clementine since Aj occupied the other and leaned on her best friends shoulder closing her eyes. Clementine only rolled her eyes. "Sometimes I feel like I have two childeren in my hands." She jocked. 

"Hey!"

"I'll stay awake. you don't have to." James the Walker dude offered. "Mmh I can't." Clementine declined. "Then we'll both keep watch." 

 "Less lonely." Clem smiled.

"True."
