the smell of smoke on his skin was something I could get used to. that is if he'd let me.

life has always been bad at dealing cards but taehyung thinks he's been dealt the shittiest hand possible.
his parents weren't exactly bad per se but if the devil worked hard then they (mostly his father) worked harder. after he'd left the house his father had given him the chance to 'repent' if he'd taken back what he said.
of course, taehyung said to hell with that (literally) which resulted in him being disowned. his allowance was cut off, accounts repossessed, and all ties to his parents had to be forgotten. his father made it as if he never even existed making sure taehyung knew he wouldn't be inheriting the business.
taehyung was never interested in it so that wasn't the problem and it may cross one's mind on how taehyung survived with no money which was not as difficult as you'd think. because if his parents worked harder than the devil then taehyung had definitely worked the hardest. his time with jungkook taught him that along with the fact he'd invested his savings into five different all giving a lovely income.
so, really taehyung's parents didn't ruin his life but they did hurt him and he wanted nothing to do with them. that was like jumping headfirst off a cliff knowing damn well you're gonna die. he wasn't going for it.
"Taehyung just please think about it?"
taehyung turns to look at his cousin. jin won't say it but there's something more to the situation at hand. it's like a certain staleness in the hair gripping taehyung's hand in hopes he'll understand what's really going on. if he'd just let go of the smoke beneath his skin then he might see it.
might see the way jin warily glances over at jimin who hasn't said anything since jin started talking or the way he looks down at his phone his lip trapped between his teeth. might see how yoongi's leg is bouncing up and down along with hoseok's hand that tries to stop it.
even namjoon looks uneasy his eyes darting between jimin and jin. there's something the universe is trying to tell taehyung though he won't see it with everyone looking like their about to lose their shit.
"fine, i'll go."
jin's face relaxes immediately and he's exhaling deeply.
"but the second something goes wrong i'm out."
jin seems to think this over before nodding in agreement. this causes everyone else to visibly relax causing taehyung to question the real reasoning behind the sudden request.
it takes at least twenty more minutes for jin to give taehyung the details of where the event will be held and the time before everyone's shuffling out the front door.
as taehyung is trying to get jin out the door he notices yoongi in the corner with jimin. the smaller has a worried look on his face his bottom lip once again trapped between his teeth.
