LEIs POV

The next day, I was practicing my firebending in the courtyard at noon. I only shot small amounts of fire, because I didn't want to end up burning the whole island. I had to control my power, and to my luck, I had the ability to do that through augmentation. With practice, I know I will be able to control myself and my fire more often. I suddenly heard footsteps approach me and saw Pema coming my way. Pema tells me that Tenzin has something for me to do, and wants to see me in the upstairs guest room. I felt excited at the thought that this could be my first assignment. I opened the door to the guest room and saw a brown-haired girl in a water tribe outfit sitting on the bed, as Tenzin stands in front of her.

"Lei, this is Korra, the avatar," Tenzin gestures to the girl who smiles at her. I smile back.

"I thought you were supposed to be in the South Pole?" I asked. Korra put her head down.

"She is supposed to be, but my mother thought it would be a good idea for her to leave and allowed her to go. I'm only allowing her to stay only if she is with you at all times, which is the task I will be giving to you," Tenzin explained. I frowned.

"I'm sorry but did I hear you say that I would have to babysit the avatar," I asked, Tenzin and Korra exchanged looks.

"Is there a problem?" Tenzin asked carefully.

"No offence, Master Tenzin, I came here to be given a responsibility, not to babysit the avatar. Also, no offence, Korra," I retorted. Korra grinned.

"None taken, I don't need anyone to watch me, Tenzin," Korra said. I agreed with her.

"She can bend all four elements, why would she need protection anyways," I pointed out. Tenzin sighed.

"Korra can protect herself, its just that how she gets into these kind of situations. Just this morning, she managed to take on the triple threats, and she was almost jailed for it. And you being with the Avatar is a very big responsibility because you make sure she doesn't get into even more trouble," Tenzin said, I groaned.

"Fine," I said blankly, and left the room abruptly.

I ran off to continue practicing my firebending, the only way I could release my anger. I created fire streams, and they became larger as my anger grew. I kept throwing them until I remembered what Lord Zuko said during one of my trainings.

"You should never release your anger with fire, fire doesn't mean destruction, but energy and life."

I started to control my breathing slowly, and the fire extinguished. I didn't notice that Korra witnessed the whole thing, and approached she approached me.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to become one of your responsibilities," Korra began, "But maybe this isn't a bad idea, you not only have a responsibility to be with me, but also to protect everyone in Republic City,"

"Yeah you're right," I sighed. Korra put her arms behind her back.

"I noticed you're flame was blue," Korra observed.

"Yeah, I obtained that from my grandmother, Azula," Korra widened her eyes.

"That's pretty cool," Korra said, I smiled.

After a small chat with Korra, she had to go practice her airbending with Tenzin and the other kids. I decided to take a walk around the island by myself.

By the time I came back, the sun had set and she saw Korra with her Naga, her polar bear dog. Only, she was on the roof. I raised one eyebrow, and wondered why she was there. I climbed up and laid down next to her. Korra got startled by my sudden presence.

"What are you doing on the roof," I whispered, Korra pointed to her ear then down.

I listened carefully, and I could hear someone commentating. They were listening to the Pro-Bending Match. I suddenly remembered that I was supposed to watch that match, and I was supposed to meet Bolin. I smacked my own head, and would have to find someway to say sorry to Bolin. Suddenly, the radio was dead silent.

"Get down, here, girls," a familiar voice said. They both exchanged worried looks.

I jumped down from the roof, to see Tenzin with his arms crossed.

"You shouldn't be listening to any of this, you don't need any more distractions," Tenzin said sternly. I looked at Korra.

"We were just listening to the Pro-Bending match," Korra defended.

"Pro-Bending? Those people abuse the art of bending, I don't want you to be listening to any more of this, from now on," Tenzin said strictly.

"Fine!" Korra huffed, and stomped away.

"And you? Why were you allowing her to listen to these kinds of things?" Tenzin asked me.

"I just saw her on the roof, and I asked her what she was doing. She was just having some fun, Tenzin," I defended.

"Well, I don't want her getting distracted anymore, got it?" Tenzin said. I sighed and nodded.

That night, I knocked on Korra's door. I came in her room, to see her laying down on her bed. She was facing the wall. I approached her and sat at the edge of her bed.

"Are you upset with Tenzin?" I asked.

"Ever since I got here," Korra said. I chuckled.

"Well, He doesn't know how to have fun, from what Lord Zuko said to me," I laughed, Korra laughed too.

"If it makes you feel better, I can take you with me to a Pro-Bending Match, tomorrow," I said, and Korra immediately sat up.

"You're gonna take me to see the match?" Korra said with hope in her eyes.

"Yes, I'm meeting someone there tomorrow, anyways," I said, and she was suddenly engulfed in a hug.

"Thanks, Lei," Korra said softly. I smiled.
