Lei found herself in a familiar setting. Everything was much brighter, but it seemed that she was in the garden back in the Fire Nation Palace. She raised her eyebrow and questioned to herself what she was doing here.
"Lei," a voice said, from behind her. She turned around and saw a woman. She looked like she was the same age as Izumi, but slightly younger. She had long brown hair just like hers, and a smile that looked all too familiar to her. She quickly remembered one of the portraits that was mounted on the Fire Nation wall, she had seen before.
She felt a tear escape, as she said, "Mother?"
Lee Ann, Lei's mother, smiled at her widely, "You're just as beautiful as you're father described,"
Lei started bursting into tears, as her mother walked up to her. She tucked a strand of Lei's hair behind her ear and palmed her cheek. Lei couldn't stop crying at the sight of her mother. It was one of the things she had always wanted. Her mother gave her a tight hug, she hugged her as tight as she could.
"How can I see you? Or touch you?" Lei cried, her mother smiled as she pulled away from the hug. She palmed her daughter's cheek, stroking her soft skin with her thumb.
"You're in your deep conscience, Lei. Your brain put you asleep," Lee Ann said softly, Lei furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"Why?" Lei asked, Lee Ann shrugged and looked at her daughter.
"You're dying," Lee Ann answered, Lei widened her eyes in shock. She couldn't be dying, her mind refused to believe that. She had so much to live for. She thought about how her friends and family would react, especially Mako. It broke her heart to think about how it would affect him, he had been through to much already.
"I-I'm dying?" Lei stuttered, as she looked at her mother with a frightened look. Lee Ann smiled at her softly and shook her head.
"Well, unless you're friends find a way to get that poison out of you, yes, you're dying," Lee Ann explained, Lei dropped to her knees and let out a deep exhale. Lee Ann kneeled in front of her and turned her head towards her, "Don't worry, you're friends will find a way,"
"Why don't we take a walk?" Lee Ann suggested, Lei sighed and nodded, before standing up and following her mother.

It had been a full day since Lei had collapsed. Everyone had been doing whatever they can to find a way to wake up Lei. It was early morning and the sun hadn't come up yet, Mako slept on a chair right beside Lei's bedside, with his head resting at the edge of her bed. He woke up and opened his eyes to see Firelord Izumi sitting on a chair on the opposite side of the bed.
"Good Morning," Izumi greeted softly, as she smiled at him. Mako smiled embarrassingly as he sat up, rubbing his eyes. Izumi continued, "Have you been here the whole time?"
"Yeah, I didn't wanna leave her alone," Mako said, as he looked at Lei, who was still and unconscious. Izumi smiled at him then looked at Lei.
"She told me you had a job as the Earth Prince's bodyguard, shouldn't you be getting ready to leave? It's almost dawn," Izumi asked curiously, Mako turned to her and shrugged.
"Yeah, but I just wanna make sure she's alright and comfortable. It's my fault she's like this in the first place. If I hadn't been more strict about her resting instead of allowing her to take the job, she wouldn't be like this," Mako explained softly, Izumi smiled.
"It's not your fault, you know that. Besides, you and I both know that Lei would've made the decision with or without our permission," Izumi chuckled softly, Mako smiled, knowing that she was right, "Now, why don't you go home and get cleaned up so you can get ready for your job. If Lei wakes up or anything happens, I promise that I'll have one of my guards get you,"
