LEIs POV

Korra, Mako, and I stood before the stage as the show started.

"Please welcome, your hero, your saviour, Amon!" The commentator shouted,

Fog filled the stage, while Amon and his equalists rose from the middle of the stage. Just like the posters, he had a mask. The spotlight shined on Amon only, while the equalists were behind him in a straight line. I stared into eyes of the mask, and only met darkness, you couldn't see his eyes. Amon stood in front the mic.

"My quest for equality began many years ago. When I was a boy, my family and I lived on a small farm. We weren't rich and none of us were benders. This made it easy for the firebender who extorted my father. One day, my father confronted this man, but when he did, that firebender took my family from me, and he took my face," Amon said, I saw many people were amazed and intrigued, by the looks and whispers they were sharing.

"I've been forced to hide under a mask, ever since. As you know, the Avatar recently arrived," Amon said, immediately people started booing at the mention of Korra. I glared at all of them, I was gonna do something until Mako held my hand.

"Don't do anything, it's what they want. Do something, and you're proving Amon's point even more," Mako whispered, I held onto his hand, because if I let it go, I fear I may do something I'll regret.

"She'd tell you that bending brings balance go the world but she is wrong. The only thing bending has brought to the world is suffering. It has been the cause of every war, in every era, but that is about to change. I know you've been wondering, what is the revelation? And today, you will get your answer," Amon said. Three of us exchanged worried looks, whatever he means, it won't be good.

"Since the beginning of time, the spirits have acted as guardians of our world, and they have spoken to me. They say the Avatar has failed humanity," Amon started. I looked at Korra who seemed angry and confused.

"That is why the spirits have chosen me to bring a new era of balance, they have granted me a power that will make equality a reality. They have given me the power to take a person's bending away, permanently," I widened my eyes, at his words.

"That isn't possible," Korra said shocked.

"This guy is insane," Mako added,

"Now for a demonstration, please welcome Lightning Bolt Zolt, leader of the triple thread triad, one of the most notorious criminals in Republic City," Amon gestured to Zolt and four men tied up, one of them being Bolin. I looked at Mako and Korra, wondering what we should do.

"There's Bolin," Korra whispered and stepped forward, but Mako grabbed her shoulder.

"Wait, we can't fight them all, we need to be smart about this," Mako whispered.

"He's right. We already know what they can do, and we know they can fight us, we need a plan," I whispered.

"Then think of game plan," Korra said impatiently. I turned my head to Amon.

"Zolt has made fortune by abusing non-benders, and his reign of terror is about to come to an end. Now, in the interest of fairness, I will give him a chance to fight, to keep his bending," Amon said, as one of the equalist untied Zolt.

"You're gonna regret doing that, pal," Zolt said, before sending a fire comet at him.

Zolt kept sending fire comets Amon, who was standing at the end of the stage. Amon ran avoiding every comet Zolt sent. Although, this didn't make Zomt give up. Zolt then shot lightning in Amon's direction, but somehow Amon easily dodged it. Amon ran up to Zolt and grabbed his arm causing him to redirect the lightning to the ceiling and fall on his knees. Amon grabbed his neck and placed his finger onto Zolt's forehead. I watched as the lightning Zolt cast weakened until it turned to fire and fire turned to nothing. Amon let go of him, and Zolt fell to the floor. He stood up again, tried to firebend, and based from his stance, he looks like he was going to send lightning to Amon, but he didn't.

"What did you do to me," Zolt asked, sadness in his voice.

"Your firebending is gone, forever," Amon replied, I widened my eyes in fear. I couldn't imagine myself without my firebending, it made me who I am.

"The era of bending is over, a new era has begun," Amon said triumphantly, many people applauded.

They started getting the persons beside Bolin, which meant time was running out fast. I looked at Korra and Mako.

"Any ideas yet?" Korra asked.

"I think so, see those machines," Mako asked as he looked at the left side of the room. "They're powered by water and steam. If you can create some cover, me and Lei can grab Bolin without being detected,"

"That works for me," Korra said, "Goodluck to both of you,"

"You too," Mako said, he suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to the stage, on the side Bolin was on. I could feel my hand shake as he was holding it. I'm pretty sure he noticed.

"Are you scared?" Mako whispered. Of course, I'm scared, the thought of someone taking away my bending, is too much.

"No, I'm not scared of anything," I lied. He squeezed my hand.

"Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you," Mako said seriously. I looked into his eyes, and somehow, I believed him, and I would remember it. I nodded.

I looked at the stage and saw as Amon took another person's bending away. He moved on to the next bender, and it was soon Bolin's turn. I became worried and scared every second that passed. What is taking Korra so long?

It was now Bolin's turn, they untied him and let him stand up before Amon.

"Uh, Hello, Amon, sir, I think there has been a misunderstanding," Bolin said shakily, as Amon slowly approached him.

Suddenly, there was a loud explosion at the left side of the room, which meant that was our cover. Smoke filled the whole room, and Mako grabbed my hand once more to guide me through the smoke. We searched through the smoke hand in hand looking for Bolin. Mako started running, and I saw who was ahead of him. Bolin was getting attacked by an equalist but Mako soon threw him off the stage.

"Bolin, you alright?" Mako asked.

"Yes! Mako, Lei, I love you," Bolin said happily, I smiled.

Mako grabbed him and I followed them, making our way through the fog. I found a door and kicked it open revealing a way out. The only way out was down a ladder, and Mako ushered me first, then Bolin. I was almost on the ground when I felt an electrifying shock causing me to scream in pain, and making me lose grip on the ladder. I fell on the ground and all I saw was darkness.

MAKOs POV

Bolin and I immediately stood up, and jumped back a bit. An equalist with electric rods attacks me but I send a fire punch at him. But he was able to shock me, and knock me to the ground. The equalist went after Bolin next who was fending him off. I looked around and I saw that Lei was on the ground unconscious. I stood up and was about to make my way over to her, until I saw Bolin being hurt by the equalist. I left Lei for second, and immediately run to Bolin's aid, and kick a blazing arc at the equalist, but sadly he dodged it. He started attacking me with the electric rods. I tried to block every move he made, but he was able to shock me. I groaned in pain, the equalist spoke up.

"You benders need to understand that there is no place in the world for you," He said.

Suddenly, he was thrown to the wall by an earth pillar. I looked and saw Korra.

"I wouldn't count us out just yet," Korra said. "Naga! Kaya!"

Korra ran up to me and helped me stand up.

"Go get Lei, I'll get Bolin," Korra said.

I ran over to Lei's small figure and picked her up bridal-style. I ran up to Kaya, and rode her back. I carefully cradled Lei in front of me with my left arm, and used my right arm to hold onto Kaya. I looked at Korra who got Bolin riding at her back. Naga and Kaya started running away, and thankfully we escaped.
