Jace shoved the suitcases into the back of their black SUV, having a mini battle with the boot as he tried jam it shut."Did you really have to pack this much, Izzy? We're only going for 2 weeks." Jace called, wiping a sheen layer of sweat from his brow as he finally managed to close it.
"Uh, yeah? It's mandatory I bring spare clothes incase something goes wrong. Then I have my spare-spare clothes, and then I have my spare-spare-"
"-okay. I think he got the gist." Alec interrupted, leaning his head back on his head rest. Alec and Isabelle were sat in the back, while Aline took the passenger seat next to Jace who was going to be driving.
Isabelle scowled at Alec, sticking her tongue out at him indignantly. Alec merely rolled his eyes in response, sticking his headphones into his ears.
"Ready to go?" Jace asked as he got in, sending Aline a big grin.
His grin faltered when she proceeded not to take any notice of him, scrolling through whatever app she was on, without replying.
"Yep." Isabelle piped up from the back, watching the whole encounter. Jace shot her a thankful smile and proceeded to drive out of the driveway.
* * *They'd been driving for a couple of hours, the only sound coming from Alec and Isabelle as they bickered back and forth.
Jace had tried countless of times to start conversation with Aline, but it had ended as soon as it begun with short replies of, "yeah. Maybe. I don't know. Haha." So Jace gave up after a while.
"Road trips," he thought, amused, "brings out the worst. She's probably just tired."
He turned the corner, winding down a narrow road covered by a canopy of trees. He slowed, taking in the beautiful view. He peered up at the falling leaves, whistling lowly at the sight.
Aline glanced up from her phone, scanning the road before bringing it back up to her face. The only sound that filled the car was her camera going off a couple times before she lowered it again, resuming to her previous position.
Jace continued to drive, watching as the canopy of trees cleared to vast fields, the sun shining down on him.
He rolled down his window and hung his arm out, enjoying the warmth from the sun.His air whipped to the side of his face gently, as if the wind was lapping at his face like a dogs tongue... He tilted his head a bit at his description of it. (A/N: heh..)
Aline shot him a glare as her hair got whipped out of its usual smooth bob. Jace laughed, tapping the roof of the car with his fingers.
