Clary bounced down the stairs when she heard a knock at the door. "Coming!!" She yelled, skipping the last two steps.

She saw her mother rearranging some flowers on the dinner table as she passed.

"Bit late for final touches, isn't it? I mean- they're here." Clary called as she approached the door.

She heard her mother grumble some insults towards her and Clary looked back at her, grinning as she opened the door.

She froze.

She contemplated slamming the door shut and opening it again, just to get rid of this sick illusion. 'Snap out of it, Clary.' She desperately thought, scanning- scanning... Jace.

It was Jace. Jace was at her door. Her Jace.

He... was staring back at her too.

He gave her a slight smile, the corners of his mouth she was all too familiar with rising easily. His golden orbs remained fixed on her, taking in her reaction.

He looked... God it was Jace, he looked amazing.

He was wearing a simple white fitted shirt that hugged every inch of his torso, casual jeans and...black converse. Clary's heart leapt at the sight of the familiar pair of shoes. She trained her gaze back up at him and couldn't help but notice how much more toned he'd gotten since she last saw him.

He'd always been the muscular, athletic type- but it seemed as though he'd been training for quite some time... probably for a movie role.

His biceps were flexed, holding his suitcase and... his fiancée's too.

Clary's heart started to hurt, her gaze fixing back onto him.

"Clarissa, will you please get out of the way and let the guests in! My God, what's gotten into you?"

Clary's hard, almost sore grip she had on the door was released as her mother hurried towards her, opening the door wider to reveal the rest of the group that accompanied Jace.

But Clary couldn't take her eyes off of him.

Jocelyn had gone quiet, obviously as shocked as Clary was. She instinctively stepped a bit closer to Clary, throwing her a quick glance to make sure she was okay. Clary subtly nodded.

She watched as Jace took in her mother's appearance, clearly not remembering her at all.
Another pang of hurt was sent shooting into her heart as her mother greeted the group and invited them in.

Clary stepped to the side, not missing the weird glare the dark haired boy with the blue eyes sent her. More importantly, she didn't miss the look Jace gave her, and how he was opening his mouth to almost say something until her mother interlinked her elbow with his and guided him near the stairs.
