then, something answered tj's questions.

"tj! can i talk to you?"

"alone." marty sneered at the other two. reed rolled his eyes and waved them away.

"why the hell is everyone saying we're dating again, marty?!" tj whisper yelled as soon as they were alone.

"okay, i did say that, but-"

"why in fuck's sake would you do that? god marty, i'm way more than over you-"

"i saw you and cyrus at the movies this weekend. i approached him and he had to explain. i'm covering for you, dumbass." marty rolled his eyes.

"that's why cyrus was so tense for the rest of the date..." tj came to terms.

"i guess we're fake dating, kippen. don't expect this to be some lana condor and noah centineo shit. i'm not holding hands with you anymore." marty hissed.
