eventually, (though for cyrus ot took a lot of bargaining) the two friend groups were able to get tj and cyrus to both go to reed's party.

it was the night of the party, and andi, marty, jonah and buffy easily had cyrus with them the whole time, as lester and reed had to track tj down nearly the whole time.

tj just wanted to have fun, get drunk, and most of all,

forget cyrus.

because as far as he knew,

cyrus hated him.

lester had made sure reed wouldn't let anyone bring alcohol, however.

so tj almost left, until-

"cyrus?"

he almost stopped. tears almost flowed. he almost yelled.

almost.

"tj."

cyrus knew he would be there. it was his best friend's party.

that's exactly why he couldn't go.

"andi, buffy, marty, jonah, i'm leaving." cyrus whimpered, trying to turn around but jonah grabbed one of his arms, marty grabbing the other, holding him by his arms above the ground.

his legs kicked. "let me leave!"

"no!" andi snarled. "reed, find an empty room. now."

reed nodded, leaving only lester to hold onto tj.

reed came back a few minutes later, dragging all of them into his bedroom.

"okay, for starters, we all know about your relationship-" jonah started, but tj cut him off.

"it's not a relationship anymore. he hates me." tj felt the words cut him like a knife.

"i don't hate you!" he cried, trying to get out of marty's grasp. "let. me. go. home!"

tj hate to see cyrus struggle like this, but at this point he was mad. "you blocked my number, and it left me to cry my fucking eyes out, cyrus!"

cyrus bit his lip to hold in sobs. "stop! let me leave! it's not my fault i broke uo with you stop!"

"really? because i specifically remember you telling me you hated me over text!"

cyrus stopped fighting back. he sat on the floor, hiding his face in his knees.

tj thought this was his fault. he ripped away from his friends, running over to cyrus, wrapping his arms around him. he softened his tone. whether cyrus hated him or not, the poor boy needed a hug. "hey, hey, it's okay.."

cyrus didn't push tj away. he just cried harder.

marty couldn't take it anymore. "tj, he doesn't hate you."

everyone's eyes whipped towards marty.

"cyrus' stepdad's a homophobe. he found out about you guys, and made you two break up. he forced cyrus to say anything hurtful he said to you."

cyrus looked up at tj. "is that true...?" tj's voice broke.

cyrus' tear filled eyes turned to puppy dog ones, he nodded weakly.

tj planted a kiss to cyrus' forehead. the poor boy, tj thought.

reed and lester were in shock. they had never seen their best friend act this calmly to a boy.

reed walked over to buffy, who was also in shock. "he really loves him, huh..?"

she nodded. "and he really loves him."

the two boys were on the floor, tj's arms around cyrus, who was repeatedly crying, "i'm sorry." and tj was calming him down.

marty looked at jonah, grabbing his hand and pulling him outside, and into a different room.

both boys knew why, and before they knew it, their lips smashed together.
