(Fluff)
The weather had been changing from cold to hot and from hot to cold over and over again for months on end. It was supposed to be spring but the cold and rainy days led you to believe otherwise. With this bipolar weather came a wave of sickness, cursing people with fevers, runny noses, coughs, and body aches. You had a fairly strong immune system, you were always one of the last people to get sick, if you got sick at all that is. But even when you did catch a cold or suffer the flue, your girlfriend happened to be a very smart and pristine doctor who would be more than happy to cater to your needs and desires during your time of weakness.
This year around was no different. As the weather failed to make a decision on weather it wanted to be warm or cold, you noticed people around you starting to snuggle, rub their temples, sneeze, cough, or they would just in general look ill. However, you felt perfectly fine and healthy. As people you worked with were busy hacking up their lungs, you tried your best to stay away from, but it was pretty hard considering you had to come into contact with a few of them.
You never worked for Overwatch like your girlfriend, Angela, did. You worked at a small office that simply focused on finances for other companies. It wasn't a huge name company, it was actually just more like a helping hand to the companies in your town. When you tell people about your job they automatically think of you as an incredibly smart person who excelled greatly in math. Well, that's because you don't tell them you're just the lady who runs the front desk, taking calls, helping customers out and paper work. It didn't sound like a whole lot but it was still a bit stressful.
Today started off as any other normal day, it was Monday and you had just walked into work, ten minutes early as you always did. Each morning, you and your friends, who were your coworkers, you hang out in the break room to have some coffee and talk a bit before having to start work. Your friend Jenna, who you were standing right next to, had been a bit sick since Friday, and you could see it in her eyes that she didn't feel well at all. The seven of you hung out for the short ten minutes, having a quick drink of coffee before you all headed out to your positions.
The first half of the day went smoothly and by now you only had around three more hours to go until you could go home and unwind with one of the most important women in your life. You were hoping that your day would end well, but as you noticed your peripheral vision starting to fuzz and go dark and it was getting hard to focus on what was in front of you. Dread built up inside you as you realized a migraine was settling down comfortably inside your skull.
Within a half an hour at most, you started to feel nauseous as the tips of your fingers and tongue, top lip, and behind your top row of teeth began to go numb with a light tingling sensation. As the feeling set in your nerves, your eyes started to become sensitive to the now seemingly bright lights that shown above you, your breaths became shaky and a gentle pain was starting to quietly knock behind your right eye. You still had over an hour of work you had to complete.
As time progressed you felt more and more miserable, wanting to repeatedly slam your head into the desk and rid of the stabbing pain behind your eye. You found yourself covering your face, taking deep breaths as your stomach contents threatened to spill at any given moment. Groaning and moaning in pain, your boss finally walked up to you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder and speaking softly as he was aware of what was going on with you. It wasn't the first time you've gotten a migraine at work before. "You've only got forty five minutes left for today... go ahead and clock out I'll have Mandy cover for you." Slowly, you pulled your hands from your face, wincing at the light that stabbed through the highly sensitive organs.
You gave a slow nod and quietly thanked him before getting up. Gathering all your things and putting on your jacket, you left the office. It wasn't far from home but with your obnoxious sibling to a headache, you decided it was much safer and better off if you just rode the bus home. Walking down to the corner, you hide your face in your hands, only looking up as the screeching bus came to a halt in front of you, causing you to wince and cover your ears instead as you stepped on.
The ride felt like it lasted forever with a little boy behind you, kicking you're seat and screaming. Each sound caused a piercing pain to shoot straight through your skull, a dull pain following up after it. When the driver pulled up to stop that was located at the corner of your street, you were quick to get up, mumbling a thank you as you put your hood up to shield your eyes from the raging sunlight above.
When you unlocked your front door and stepped inside, you pulled the hoodie off from your head as your beautiful girlfriend looked up from her book. Her hair was up in a messy bun, a couple curly strands hung out in front of her ears, and she was wearing a pair of reading glasses the rested carefully on the bridge of her nose. She gave you a gentle smile and marked the page of her book she was on before getting up and walking over to you. "You're home early, liebling." Her smile wavered as you looked up at her, pain evident in your features.
"It's a migraine..." You mumble as Angela gently cupped your cheeks.
"My poor girl... c'mon, you need rest." She took hold of your hand led you into the bedroom, letting you lie down as she went over and closed the curtains. "Wait here." She spoke softly, leaving the room and gently closing the door behind her to darken the room for you.
You covered your face with the blanket and lie there groaning in pain for a few minutes until you hear Angela return quietly. Moving a couple fingers, you slowly open one eye to see your girlfriend setting down a tall glass of ice water and a bottle of Advil on the nightstand beside you. She was holding a stuffed bunny, one that was supposed to be microwaved and used as a heating pad that gave off a delightful smell of lavender.
"Move your hands." Angela said quietly and you removed your hands from your face. "Where does it hurt the most?" She asked and you pointed to the area of your right temple. Giving you a small smile, she helped you to sit up. "You look so pitiful... I hate to see my liebling I'm so much discomfort. I think you're getting sick."
"I don't get sick so easily." You groan as Angela opened the bottle of Advil pills, taking a couple out for you.
"Well, you didn't go down without a fight." She said with a small smile as she gave you the pills and the glass of water. As you took the pain relieving medication, she felt your forehead. "You're getting sick for sure. Influenza A it seems." You sigh as you handed the ice water back to her, you hated getting sick and you especially hated the flue. "Lie down." She ordered in a gentle tone, and you did as she asked. Once you got comfortable she placed the heated bunny on the area you said was in the most pain. Afterwards, she walked over to the other side of the table, put her glasses on her nightstand before crawling into the bed with you. She pressed herself up against your side and pulled the covers up to your necks, the way you both liked it, as she wrapped her arms around you.
"I'm so lucky to have a girlfriend who's a doctor..." You say in a quiet moan of pain.
"Your personal healthcare companion." Angels said softly with a smile as she rested her head on your shoulder. "Get better soon, liebling..."
