52. Before going on Stage

Elizabeth’s POV

The gang and I were standing behind the stage waiting for the showcase to start. Several of the other students who were performing were running around trying to sort out their final details with lighting or their appearance. I was holding my phone in my hand feeling a bit nervous.

“Hey you are going to be okay” Zayn said while Perrie was fixing his tie. I smiled at him.

“We got your back girl!” Louis said placing his arm on my shoulder and I felt a bit better. However, Niall still isn’t here.

“Guys have you seen Niall?” I asked nervously, glancing my eyes to each single one of them. They all looked at each other waiting to see if anyone knew anything.

“No” Liam said shaking his head. I gave him a slight nod and bit my lip. The lights went off which meant that the show case was starting; thankfully we are the last ones.

Niall’s POV

Damn it I was running late thanks to traffic! I quickly parked outside of the school and climbed out of the car locking it running up the steps to the entrance of the school. I looked at my watch and saw that I’m cutting it close with time I sprinted all the way down the halls until finally got to the auditorium. I opened the door to head back stage scanning my eyes for Elizabeth.

“Hey, I’m here. I am so sorry that I am late!” I said jogging towards her and she looked so nervous her eyes lit up a little when she saw me.

“It’s okay, we still have ten minutes” She calmly said to me as I tried my best to fix my hair with my fingers.  

“Okay guys, I think it’s best that we go find our seats now” Liam said taking Sophia’s hand, they all nodded following him to the door.

“Oh wait!” Eleanor said and quickly released Louis hand and walked over to me. “I forgot this” she said taking off one of her diamond bracelets and clasped it around my wrist. I looked up at her opening my mouth to say something but she beat me to it.

“It’s okay” She nodded “I bought two, they are friendships bracelets. I thought may remind you that I will be there on stage with you even though physically I’m not”

I smiled at her and wrapped my arms around her neck giving her a tight hug. “Thank you” I said once I pulled away.

“Good Luck you two” Louis smiled at us grabbing Eleanor’s hand and walked out. I tunred to look at Niall and he was fixing his suit.  I giggled.

“Niall you look fine, not a hair out of place” I said adjusting his tie a little and he smiled at me. “Stop freaking out you made it in time”

Niall and I stood in silence after that. I walked to the side of the stage and peeked out of the curtain and saw a lot of people, I saw all of our friends except for Harry. As much as I’d hate to admit it I felt a wave of disappointment rush through me.

“Hey, it’ll be fine” Niall said placing his hand on my arm and I released the curtain and turned to look at him. “Just breath” he said taking in a deep breath and letting it out motioning me to do it with him.

“Can you take care of my phone?’ I asked him, knowing that I didn’t have any pockets.

“Yea sure” he said taking it from me and placed it into his inside pocket. I adjusted my skirt with my hands trying to distract me from my nerves.  I bit my lip and gave in from the argument I was having in my head whither or not I should ask Niall this question.

“Niall” I asked in a small voice and he looked up at me with his soft blue eyes waiting for me to continue. “Um.. is Harry even coming? I mean I know I shouldn’t care but-“

“I don’t know” Niall said pursing his lips together. “It doesn’t matter anyways Ellie. What matters right now is for you to go out on that stage and sing your heart out” I smiled at him.

“Elizabeth and Niall your up next” the back stage manager said handing Niall our microphones then went back to stand near the entrance to walk on stage. A few seconds late we were being introduced through the microphone to the audience.

I looked at Niall and he gave me a hug. “I will be there with you when it’s my time to go up okay?”

I nodded at him and he handed me one of the microphones. The stage manager motioned me to go out and I took in a deep breath and walked up.
