FLORENCE WAS NOT FIGURATIVELY, BUT INSTEAD, LITERALLY ELBOW DEEP IN SITUATION. To be more specific, a patient. They had come into the hospital a few weeks back feeling sick only to find out they didn't just have a minor cold.
No. Instead the patient who was a loving father to a young girl was more seriously sick. Florence had spent several weeks planning out a course of action to concur and cure the kind man.
The surgery was scheduled for the next morning, but surgery times could be fluctuated if needed.
So, here Florence stood in pale surgery scrubs pillaging through a poor man's body. It was true she loved her work and the gratifying feeling of being able to save people.
After her first mission, 8 years ago she decided herself to stay away from the battle field. She had only caused death, or so she though for so many years. Then she became a medic and a light finally shone on her soul.
"Kiri, close up". With a sigh Florence lifted her hands and stepped away from the operating table The young woman nodded and began stitching up the man.
In the change room Florence shimmied off her scrubs and instead slid into regular ninja attire. A smile graced her face, that operation went well. She would confidently bet on her patients full recovery.
She had a pep in her step as she entered her office. It was a mediocre sized space with baby blue walls. A simple wooden desk was towards the back of the room with a rolling chair. Along the walls were several shelves.
She closed the blinds to shut out the moon and instead turned on her desk lamp. Sitting in her chair she began writing her surgical report, the least favorite aspect of her job.
A few minuets later a knock sounded on her door. With an irritated sigh Florence yelled at them to come in.
Her coworker poked her head in the room and peered at her, "we're all going to barbecue tonight, coming?" The older woman tapped her fingers on the door anticipating a response.
Florence just shook her head, "sorry I have to finish my report".
The woman nodded, waved and left.
With a sigh Florence returned to the already page long report. This was going to be a long night.
Out of all the people who worked at the hospital Florence was definitely the youngest. Being only twenty it was not only an amazing feat, but also a sign of being an above average medical ninja.
It could be said that Florence's healing abilities even rivaled those or Tsunade.
For this reason not only did she have her own office, but also a pile patients. Which of course ment lots of work. Though, at the end of the day it was a highly rewarding job and made her feel like she was walking on her paved road of redemption.
This busy job was also good for avoiding all her problems. It was always a trait of hers to delve into work just to avoid confronting her emotions.
Reaching over she flicked her lamp light off and left her office. Before leaving she remembered to lock the door. Then, she started on the way home.
Much to her dismay Kakashi was gone on a mission. So when she breached the threshold of their shared house Florence was met with darkness and a shuttering lonely chill.
Knowing her mother sat somewhere withing only seemed to tear away at Florence's already worn nerves.
Tired and annoyed she only managed to kick off her shoes before ascending to her bedroom where she flopped on the bed. This house was so lonely without Kakashi. Her life was so lonely without Kakashi.
She missed him.
A sore feeling rested in her heart as she faded into sleep.
The days seemed to pass alike to this one. Get up, eat work sleep.
Every day she'd check the house for Kakashi in case he'd gotten home, all to no avail.
Slowly she delved farther into her work. Pulling double shifts and sometimes sleeping over night in the hospital. It always seemed to happen when Kakashi went on missions. It was those times when Florence would shift away from home and fill her time with anything else.
This was going on a week now and not only were her co workers concerned, but also her boss.
"Florence. . " her boss gripped the door to her office. He stared at her. She had darkly rimmed circles under her eyes and ruffled hair. "Go home".
She sighed and rubbed her face. Shaking her head Florence lent her head on her desk. A few minutes later she heard the creak and closing to her door.
She was alone. She hated being alone.
