Coffee sloshed within, black, no cream, no sugar. Just swirling darkness which steamed with angry heat threatening to burn the males tounge.
Though he seemed unphased. Even as he rocked the mug to hard and a wave of dark brew flicked up onto his lip. No, Kakashi didn't feel it, his mind was elsewhere- back upstairs in the hollowing darkness of the bedroom.
It had been a long week. Kakashi's pesky genin children were in the second stage of the Chunin exams, granting him a much needed break from work.
Florence was wearing on his soul, the kunoichi had remained virtually in the same spot with the exception of bathroom breaks. She seemed hollow, silent and empty and Kakashi was at a loss of what to do.
His words of love and support showed no sigh of help and his presence felt unwanted.
Defeated Kakashi set his cup down, sliding down to sit on the cool floor with, back resting against the cabinets.
His eyes fell closed, nerves growing thin. How could things fall apart so quickly, it was in the biggest sense, unfair.
The longer the ninja sat the longer his feeling of distraught dribbled into an inflamed annoyance. The ticking of the clock, the tickle of his hair grazing against his forehead and scratch of the material of his headband. Everything became so overwhelmingly present, annoying him down to every fiver of his being.
A new angered sort of determination flooded his soul. Kakashi pushed up from the floor, running up the stairs to barge into the bedroom. An undisturbed darkness rested within, twirling its tenticals of misery around Florence.
The kunoichi made no move to acknowledge his loud entrance. Cocooned in blankets she rested, turned away from the door.
"Get up" Kakashi's words resonated cold and demanding, but ment only the opposite.
Nothing would change of he didn't do something. Things would continue spiralling and getting worse.
The jounin climbed onto the bed, pushing the blankets away and coiling his arms under her armpits to pull her up.
"It's time to get up" his voice was airy, tired from lifting the kunoichi and dragging her to sit on the bed edge.
Shreds of light ripped through the curtains, drawing lines of platinum silver upon her skin. For the first time in too long Kakashi was able to peer into her eyes, he had missed looking into her light irises.
"Kakashi. . " she started tiredly, lids hanging heavy upon her eyes, threatening to close. Strands of unkempt hair washed over her being like a cloak of pale green.
Before she could continue the silver haired ninja cut her off, "no, nothings going to change if we just lay here".
With haste he stood, moving to the window and pushing the blinds open. A radiant warmth flooded in, painting the room once again in light. Then, with a slight grunt the male pushed up, opening the window and letting in a fresh scent.
For a moment Kakashi was held there, mesmerized by the nature view just an arms reach away. It was innocent, away from the stone home he was trapped in.
Breaking free he turned back to his lover, slowly walking closer until he stood in front of her. Her eyes followed him as the ninja knelt down to her height.
"I'm sorry I couldn't help you and I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I know words are often hollow and fake, but Florence I'm going to help you find joy". His hand moved to take hers, thumb running across her knuckles.
They fell into silence, Florence's eyes seemed to bore into his soul.
She didn't deserve him.
Her lip drew in between her teeth as she bit down trying to keep a wail at bay. Though the longer she peered into his eyes, the more her facade broke.
A small sniffle broke the silence between them as her lips parted and soft tears began rolled down her face.
His name stuttered from her lips as she lent forward, head resting on his chest and her hands balling fists in his shirt, stretching the black material.
She didn't want him to see her, choking on sobs with a runny nose. Yet she couldn't seem to push him away.
Kakashi remained kneeling, even as his knees went numb and feet fell asleep. For he would stand there as long as she needed, he would go to the ends of the earth for her, no questions asked.
