"You smell like smoke" Kakashi observed his lover as she came into sight.

The woman sighed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear "bad habits die hard". She neared him, sitting on the stones worn surface, "how are you?"

The jounin shook his head "things will never be the same Florence. Sasuke, the Hokage. . " his words trailed off as he peered at her. The breath seemed to catch within his throat.

No matter what happened or how the world seemed to collapse around them Florence could fix it. Just her presence, her sight, her voice it made everything okay.

Kakashi's hand lifted from the stones edge, shifting to weave with her fingers and holding her tight. He needed her, he always had.

"Things will never be the same" she agreed with a solemn nod, "but Sasuke will come home and no matter how things change me and you never will".

Florence smiled quaintly warmth blooming within her chest "whether we are friends, or more I promise I'll stay as long as you'll have me"

He looked up to her from where he crouched on the grass, his heart pounded as he gazed at her and his fingers tugged at his mask.

Wordlessly kakashi reached up, tugging her down into a kiss. The womans lips were soft, they always were and he could taste the remence of smoke on her tounge.

Florence pulled away, leaning her forehead on his. Her eyes flickered between his lips and eye, his darkened orb stared daringly.

"What if I want you forever, until the last breath leaves my lungs and even after that when I'm nothing but a ghost?" The jounin's voice rasped his fingers teasing at the skin of her hips.

Kakashi wanted Florence, he wanted her now and for the rest of eternity. No matter how selfish it was, the jounin didn't care.

She chuckled, a low smile teasing the corner of her lips "I loved you then, I love you now and I will love you forever more".

Kakashi chuckled "Florence I don't need to marry you to love you. I know I'll be with you forever and a piece of paper wont change that, but if you want to that bad, then we can get married" he reminisced to her popping the question many times in the past.

The kunoichi held his face, her fingers dancing on his skin. She rolled her eyes unsatisfied, but could not help the deepened hue or pink which bloomed upon her skin.

"I want you to be with me because you love me, not becuase I was stupid and pushy. I'm fine just like this, me and you".

Kakashi shook his head ever so slightly, "I'm sorry it took me so long to see- you're my beginning and my end and everyday I find myself falling in love with you a little more. If there is anyone I'm going to spend the rest of my life with it's you".

Florence blinked, the sun reflecting in her glossy eyes, "fine, if that's what you want" the kunoichi smiled, shrugging her shoulders and playing it off cool.

The kunoichi leaned over, pulling the jounin into a hug, his face pressed into her chest. Her hands wound around him, coiling in his shirts darkened fabric and the kunoichi could only hope her lover couldn't feel her erratic heart beat.

The silver haired ninja wound his arms around her waist, holding her tight. If only for a few minuets he had forgotten the death and sadness which surrounded him.

A few minuets of grace was all he needed.

"I love you" he whispered.
