"The only way you could ever make me nervous is if your ignorance was to somehow become an infectious disease. You are perhaps the most arrogant elf I have ever met."
He only grinned wider.
"There's the fiery elleth I met last night."
-(Y/N) must le...
I pulled at the collar that wrapped closely around my neck. The riding coat Saevel pulled from my new wardrobe was grey with beautiful cut out designs that revealed a red material underneath. At first it felt restricting but the longer I wore it the more I felt comfortable in it and it quickly became one of my favorite pieces I've worn since coming here.
"Prince Thranduil should already be in there."
Saevel said her goodbye and left me standing at the edge of the stables. For about five minutes I just stood there, thinking about what I was going to say when I turned the corner of the stables. I knew I should apologize for my brash behavior towards him at the dinner last night. Looking up at the canopies of the trees, I could see the daylight beginning to fade with an evening orange blaze dripped through the leaves and onto my skin.
No better time to do this than now (Y\N), I told myself.
I straightened my posture, folding my hands together in front of me, and slowly crept around the corner.
Sure enough, he was in there, feeding one of the horses a carrot. He rubbed it's head and quietly spoke elvish words to it with a low voice. I could see a small smile forming at the corners of his mouth, seeming completely focused on the black steed. He didn't know I was there.
"There's no use in remaining quiet. I know you're there," Thranduil said without moving his eyes from his horse.
"...I...I um...A servant told me you wished for my company," I was finally able to stutter out.
He turned to me with a growing smirk on his face.
"Do I really make you that nervous?"
I tilted my head out of annoyance.
"E... Excuse me?"
"Because if I do, I must say I'm worried about how our future together will play out."
I grit my teeth and opened my mouth again...
"The only way you could ever make me nervous is if your ignorance somehow became an infectious disease. Your are perhaps the most arrogant elf I have ever met."
He only grinned wider.
"There's the fiery elleth I met last night."
Feeling slightly embarrassed at the intensity of my comment and amusement of Thranduil, I shifted uncomfortably on my feet, huffed, looked away, and twisted my betrothal ring. He noticed this and looked at my hand before turning back to the horse.
"I hope you like it."
Confused at first, I finally realized he was talking about the ring.
"Oh...," I muttered glancing at it, "I do."
"Good," he said pulling off his glove and flashing me his hand, "Because I like mine as well."
