Thranduil was gone before I rose the next morning which didn't surprise me since I had slept in way past my usual waking hour. My head had begun to hurt again and I made sure to take special care in walking when I got dressed so I didn't fall.
My stomach grumbled. It was so late in the morning and I hadn't had breakfast yet. The rest of the royal family would already be eating by now. I made my way down to the banquet hall as quickly as my condition would allow without falling.
When I arrived, my assumptions were confirmed. Everyone was there, including Thranduil. Daealla was saying something to him from across the table while he dug into his plate of fruit, bread, and cheese. Oropher was preoccupied with his own food so he didn't notice my arrival either.
I approached the table quietly and took a seat next to Daealla.
"Oh hello! I hoped you'd make it in time to eat with us," she said happily.
I thanked her for her kindness and waited for a plate of food.
"And might I ask for a glass of water with feverfew in it as well," I asked the servant who placed a plate of beautiful fruit in front of me.
He nodded and sped off.
"Feverfew?," Oropher questioned.
"Yes. I'm not feeling very well this morning."
"Ah, I see."
Oropher returned to his food.
Thranduil hadn't even looked up yet and it caused irritation to burrow under my skin. When the glass of feverfew arrived I immediately finished it off with a few gulps in what I can only describe as being in unladylike fashion. I then started on my food with the revolting, burning sensation still in my mouth.
When I took a glance of the table Daealla was staring at me as well as Thranduil.
"Is everything alright," I asked.
"I was going to ask you that, dear" she said with worry in her eyes.
"I'm alright. Just a little light headed this-"
A stabbing sensation shot through my abdomen and strangled my words.
"This morning," I finished once I was acclimated to the pain.
"Are you sure?"
Even Oropher, who had seemed more interested in breakfast this morning than any conversation was looking at me now.
I nodded, and tried to brush off their query looks.
The pain ripping through my stomach didn't leave and it took all the strength I had just to make it seem as if everything was alright.
Seeming satisfied with my answer, Oropher then dismissed himself and Daealla followed, claiming she had some preparations to make before her husband and son left for Ñoldor.
"With only a day left before the two of them leave, I hope I can get everything done in time," she said with a smile and hurried off.
Thranduil and I were left in silence and I couldn't take it any longer.
"So you're leaving in a day," I asked.
He nodded, not looking up at me. I noticed he was still wearing the wedding gem, which was a good sign.
"Do you know when you'll be back?"
He shook his head.
I huffed in frustration
"Are you going to say anything to me," I said loud enough that echoes bounced from the wall.
Thranduil shot daggers at me through his stare and I noticed the grip around his fork had tightened enough to cause his knuckles to turn white.
