Three days.

Nearly an hour after Thranduil had escorted me to my room, I realized that three days from now, the wedding will take place and my heart sunk.

Am I ready for this?

Thranduil is no doubt charming and even seems to be kind from moment to moment but am I really willing to devote my entire life to him?

I shook my head violently before taking a seat by the fireplace in the corner.

Yes, you are. Your people need you. Your parents need you.

That was enough to calm the bit of nerves that seemed to keep forcing it's way up my to throat.

Take a deep breath.

I looked over at my chest that sat up against the wall next to the door.

Take another deep breath.

I stood and slowly made my way over to it, sliding the latch and lifting it open to find exactly what I knew was in it. The first thing I saw was the wedding dress. I loved it. I truly did. The thin foliage that was sewn into the white fabric was absolutely stunning and the headdress that my mother helped pick out for me pulled it all together.

I ran my hands over the dress lightly and finally pushed it aside along with a stack of books, small trinket boxes of jewelry, and a spare set of clothing. Finally I had found what I was looking for. Tucked away at the very bottom of the right corner sat a small wooden box, no bigger than the palm of my hand. I pulled it out and opened it slowly.

Inside sat a content golden ring. My mother was actually quite aggravated at the design of it. She said it looked like a snake that coiled itself around someone's finger. However, I chose the design because it reminded me of pureness. The only alteration done to the gold was when it was wrapped round and round. It just so happens that in the process of making the ring it resembled a snake.

I hoped Thranduil would like it. I looked down at my own finger to find my betrothal ring. Soon I would give this ring back to him and he will give his back to me so we can replace each of them with our wedding rings.

Three days.

I shut the box and pushed it back to the bottom of the chest before closing the lid.

Morning came quickly and there seemed to be a bustle in the palace that I was unaware of until I finally stepped out of my room. Servants were walking quickly by while carrying fabrics and baskets of food and wine, some of them giving me a side glance as I passed by.

I had finally managed to find Saevel huddled in a group of servants discussing something that seemed quite urgent. Her eyes were wide and the dark brown color of them gave a sense of seriousness to the conversation.
