"Thank you for the invitation."
"You look stunning."
"We're very pleased to be here."
"The both of you compliment each other very well."
These were just a handful of the welcomes that were given to Thranduil and I. So many faces crossed my vision in such a short amount of time that I had begun to feel dizzy. I knew for a fact that I wouldn't be able to remember all of their names. My family had not arrived yet either and that began to stress me out even more.
I gently rubbed the temple of my forehead to secede the headache that was beginning to form. After an hour of greeting elves my feet had began to feel sore at standing for so long.
"Are you alright," Thranduil asked noticing my discomfort.
"Yes, yes," I assured him, "Just a little tired."
I tried to glimpse out of one of the windows as if that may cause my parents to randomly appear. Thankfully, the rain had stopped and the late afternoon sun was shining brightly into the ballroom.
"I'm sure they'll be here soon," Thranduil said, reading my mind. He gave me a comforting smile before turning to another guest who had arrived.
"Well this is a sight for sore eyes," he said to an elf of dark brown, almost black hair. The elf stood tall and it was easy to tell there was a sense of pride in him.
"Hello, mui mellon," he said.
"I'm very pleased you could make it, Elrond," Thranduil smiled.
I perked up at the mention of his name.
"And you must be (Y/N)," Elrond said directing his attention towards me.
I bowed my head towards him and smiled.
"I am. And I'm so pleased to finally meet you. I've heard you are a good friend to Thranduil."
He nodded.
"I had the honor of meeting Prince Thranduil many years ago and we've fought at each others' side a handful of times."
"Many of those times my life has been saved by you and I'm sure it won't be the last," Thranduil chipped in, "Was Elros not able to make it?"
"Unfortunately no, he's tending to some business with my father. I was going to stay and help but since I made it a point to give my pity to your bride, I knew I needed to be here," Elrond turned to me then, "You definitely have your hands full, Lady (Y/N)."
"Thank you Elrond. I'm so glad you were able to be here," I said.
He bowed and with a smile and took his leave. I watched him walk away, thinking about how proper and mature he seemed. And about how wrong Valori was...
"Look who it is!"
The unfamiliar voice drew me back to the greetings.
Coming towards us was a tall elf with wavy golden hair as bright as the sun. The smile plastered on his face was full of pure joy and mischief. It was easy to tell that he had been on his fair share of adventures by the way walked through the crowd with complete confidence. I noticed as he passed others, they would whisper to each other and watched him as he glided by.
It can't be, I thought, Is he...?
"Glorfindel," Thranduil said with a hint of surprise, "I didn't expect you to be here. I thought might be too busy to come."
"I am busy. But Oropher sent me an invite and I couldn't miss the union of Thrandy and his bride!"
Glorfindel clapped the back of Thranduil and laughed heartily. I noticed the irritation growing in Thranduil's faced and I inwardly laughed.
