'Tae' I mumbled. 'Move a bit, I need to get some water, this is too spicy now'

Taehyung shifted from his position and I crawled out of the couch, leaving my bowl on the table.

When I reached the kitchen counter, I took my mug and filled it with water. I sipped the cool liquid and it felt like euphoria. The water touched my tongue, which was burning right now with the savoury taste but it left a cool soothing feeling.

'Ahh' I sighed while I went back to the couch, drinking more water.

I stopped when I felt the rustling again, this time near my feet. I bent down and looked, but due to the dim light, I couldn't see much. But when I finally spotted what caused it, I screamed but no sound came out of my mouth.

It was one of my eternal fears; cockroaches.

I jumped back and practically ran to the couch, spilling water everywhere. But I cared less; all I cared was to get the disgusting creature away from me.

'TAE!!!' I yelled as I got on the couch and kept on walking side to side on it, startling him.

'What?' he placed his bowl on the table and gawked at me while I stood on my tiptoes beside him, holding the now half empty mug of water.

'OH SHIT IT'S COMING THIS WAY!' I squealed and stepped on top of him while the hideous little animal crawled towards the couch.

'WHAT'S COMING THIS WAY?' he stirred. 'And stop stomping on me'

'Mianhae, but its-AHHHH' I ran to the opposite side of the couch, jumping over him as the cockroach followed my movements.

'GET IT OFF!!! GET THAT DISGUSTING LITTLE ANIMAL AWAY FROM ME! STOP STARING AND HELP ME!!'

Puzzled as hell from my actions, Taehyung finally came to his senses and glanced at the cockroach, three steps away from him.

'Ah, Lee! You're still scared of cockroaches?' he chuckled.

When he said 'cockroach', the creature looked at me, its two antennas moving and started climbing up the couch.

'DON'T SAY IT'S NAME!!! THAT GROSS REVOLTING THING CAN HEAR YOU!!' I screeched and ran back to the other side, half trampling him and spilling the last bit of water from my mug on his head.

He glanced up and saw my terrified face as he wiped off the water from his hair. 'God, Lee. I didn't think you were this scared, it's hilarious!'

'THERE'S NOTHING HILARIOUS IN THIS SITUATION AND GET THAT FOUL TYRANT AWAY!'

'Fine' he stood up laughing and searched for the creature who had apparently disappeared in an instant.

'W-Where is it?' I whispered as I peered down, standing on one foot.

'It's gone' he said. 'Wait, don't move, just stay like that-'

'Mwo? Is it near me? Is it-?' I was shaking as I stood completely still, trying to balance myself on one foot while holding the mug on the other hand and looking like a freak. 'Quickly! Take it away!'

'It's next to your leg!'

'WHAT?' I threw the empty mug to the couch, panicked. I crashed on top of him, losing my balance. My whole body was pressed against him and I stared at his brown eyes which glinted of mischief.

Slowly, he started laughing, his chest heaving up and down under mine. He wrapped his arms around me and continued to laugh uncontrollably.

'W-Wae?' I asked stunned.

'I was just kidding!' he said in middle of his laughs. 'It wasn't next to your leg! It was nowhere to be seen!'

'W-WHAT?' I blinked. 'How could you lie to me like that and laugh right now?' I asked angrily. 'You little-'

'You're so cute that I can't handle it' he pecked on my lips and I felt my cheeks burning. How could he do this to me?

My heart was throbbing inside my ribcage as I felt his heart against mine, beating in rhythm.

'Aish' I whined as got off him and settled on the couch just when without warning; I heard a door opening from upstairs.

'WHAT THE-' I jumped out of the couch and seized the two bowls of kimchi from the table and hid it behind the fridge.

'Wae?' Taehyung stared, confused.

'I KNOW THAT SOUND! IT'S MY MUM! CAN'T YOU FRIKKIN REMEMBER? SHE PUT THAT RULE! WE CAN'T STAY TOGETHER AFTER 10 PM!!!! SHE'LL KILL US BOTH!' I whispered urgently in a fast pace as I rushed to clean up the mess. 'QUICKLY! HIDE!'

'OH SHIT!' Taehyung swore for the first time after a long time and snatched the mug, concealing it behind the table. 'WE'RE DEAD IF WE GET CAUGHT!' I could hear his voice filled with alarm.

We could hear the footsteps getting nearer and my heart was beating faster and faster every second.

'10 SECONDS AND SHE'S HERE!' I ran all over the place.

After a few insanely quick moments, we kept everything as it was before and I crawled under the couch. Taehyung started to crawl beside me too and I remembered something.

'SWITCH IT OFF! SWITCH OFF THE DAMN LIGHT!' I whispered hurriedly as I heard my mum descending down the stairs. Taehyung ran to the switch and turned it off and squeezed under the space of the couch.

Our breaths were heavy and my entire body was tensed. There was practically no space under the couch to hide two people, but it was the only place which came to my mind at that time. Taehyung was squished beside me, his rapid breaths landing on my face and his nose touching mine as we waited. I squeezed his hand, biting my lip at the same time, praying that my mum won't spot us.

My mum was just 20 meters away from us and I stared at her feet approaching closer and closer.

I didn't dare to breathe.

But then, now, out of all the times this could happen, the damned creature of the underworld, the rotting brown insect that went missing a while ago, crawled right in front of my face.

And I screamed.
