A Blast From The Past (YYH/Inuyasha crossover) Kurama x OC

Part 18

~Kurama's point of view

I come home after a long day of studying. Summer has past and so has high school. I have begun on the next step, that being university. I got into one of the best the area has to offer. Luckily it wasn't too far from my old home.

After making dinner for myself in my dorm room, that I got so I wouldn't have to explain my absence every now and then, I take the bundle of papers from my nightstand, looking for the page where I left off last time. I took it home with me from Spirit world.

Kiri wrote a lot, but more out of boredom than anything else it seems. If my calculations were right on the dates she wrote down, almost a century has past. It's not unusual. Demons like her can grow very old and by demon standards, she is still young at this time. I used to be very old myself and I noticed that the more Youko and I merge into one as I grow stronger, my aging slows down once again. Anyway, back to reading.

After reading until late, I come to one conclusion. Kiri, after a century and a half, is alone. She still has family, even more than before as Inuyasha's offspring keeps growing in number. It even seems like Sesshomaru finally found someone to share his life with and will have children of his own soon, that being the only light in Kiri's life. But as for herself, she's all alone.

I jerk from my thoughts as the window slides open. "Hiei, I really wish you would learn to knock." I tell him as he makes his way to the small kitchenette. "Hn, reading that nonsense again?" he comments without looking over.

I look down sadly. "Kurama, it's been weeks. You can't keep doing this to yourself." Hiei scolds. "I... I just need to know." I say making Hiei sigh before he upturns what was left in the pots onto a plate.

He glances back at me as he grabs a fork. "I'm taking it's not well?" I shake my head as I turn the page. What I see makes me sit up rigid on my bed, making Hiei pause his fork mid-air.

The handwriting is different. In a whisper I read; "Kiri, second child and daughter of the great Inu no Taisho died a senseless death in a senseless war between humans and demons. Her death leaves me with many regrets. ~Sesshomaru."

I gape at the page horrified before I flip to the next and those after. They are empty. Going back, I check the last date, finding it familiar. It's close to the time that the demon world is created. Is that why Sesshomaru finally rooted for the separation of worlds, like our former foe suggested?

Getting to my feet I drop all the pages but one on my bed. Hurriedly I slip on my shoes and put on a jacket. I can see Hiei glancing at me knowingly. He already knows what I'm about to do, but isn't making any notion to stop me.

As I run out the door, I don't see Hiei getting up from his spot, walking over to the discarded pages. Before his eyes, more pages turn blank. Curious, he searches for the last one with writing, only to scoff at what it says. 'He came for me.' "How sappy." he says disgusted before smirking. "Heh, that fox."

I run towards Kagome's home in a hurry and jump three steps at a time, leaving myself panting as I reach the house. When I knock on the door, her mother opens. "Oh, it's you. I'm afraid Kiri or Kagome aren't here. Kagome is a priestess in the Feudal era now." she says proudly.

"So I've heard. Listen, it's really important that I get to the Feudal era. Is there any other way to go there without the help of your daughter or Inuyasha?" I asks. "Well, not as far as I know." she says, bumming me out. She turns to her father in law in question, who shakes his head. I look down sadly. "I see."

"I'm sorry." she says. "No, that's alright." I'm about to leave when the boy speaks up. "I know how you can get there without them."

I look up at him hopefully. "How?" "Follow me!" he says, running up the stairs. I quickly follow behind him. He darts into a room that seems to be Kagome's as she's the only girl in the house besides her mother.
