rosey and haechan were great friends. their bond blossomed in late 2018 when they were on weekly idol together.
they started interacting at award events, whether it was through backstage chats or high fives as they passed each other on their way to their seats. they even converse on the phone occasionally, simply messaging, when they are free.
rosey was well aware of haechan's feelings for her. she wouldn't let him cross any lines because she had a partner. she, on the other hand, was blind to the fact that he made excuses while she was around. he respected her relationship and never wanted to interfere with it, therefore their interactions were brief in order for him not to become jealous.
when rosey came inside the building, she and haechan talked a lot. which was odd because rosey was typically shy at the beginning of her friendships, but haechan just had a way of making her feel at ease.
fans milled in the lobby of the sm building, where stores were located. some fans would become interested and purposefully enter prohibited areas. the idols' hangout sessions were then revealed to the world.
many people would instantly gather in the lobby of the building to await the idols' leaving. they were continually questioning the visiting idols about why they hung out here so much.
chaeyoung clutched rosey's hand tightly as they walked away with their heads down to avoid cameras flashing in their faces. they ignored the shouts and sarcastic statements of the "fans" who were waiting for them to leave.
"why do they hang out here when they don't belong?"
"are they friends with our boys? how?"
rosey ignored it, not that she ever stuck up for herself anyhow. she was quite shy. chaeyoung, on the other hand, looked at those making much remarks. those "fans" never interacted with nct and are simply jealous.
rosey dashed into the car that was waiting for the girls at the curb in front of the building. they both sat down and shut the doors. rosey's phone began to ring, shocking her as she hastily reached for it from her pocket.
the call was cut off before she could answer. the next few seconds were packed with dings from her phone, her lockscreen overflowing with text message notifications.
rosey unlocked her phone, opened her messages, and typed back to the individual who was spamming her phone.
"how come you guys left so early?"
"you looked to rush out, is everything okay?"
"what happened?"
"you didn't say anything today; please answer!"
"rosey?"
haechan kept blowing up her phone. when rosey was taking too long to respond, chaeyoung's phone began to light up with texts from haechan.
as she read more of the boy's messages, rosey's head began to nod instinctively. her fingers began to dart across the screen of her phone.
"yeah, everything is fine. we had just spotted people crowding the halls of the building and decided it was best to leave," rosey responded to the text.
haechan responded almost instantly.
"okay, but what about your silence? something seemed strange when you came by."
rosey sighed, her gaze drawn to chaeyoung, who was peering over at the girl's phone. chaeyoung's face revealed a smirk when the two made eye contact.
"haechan?"
rosey nodded and handed the girl the phone. chaeyoung read through some messages and looked at the girl with playful eyes.
"let me talk?"
"no, no," rosey reached for her phone and grabbed it from the girl's hand, "not a good idea."
rosey resumed typing.
"don't worry, i wasn't in the mood to converse today. how about we get together tomorrow?"
haechan viewed the message, the typing bubble on her screen appearing.
