His hand, shooting out, stopped her in her tracks, preventing her from going anywhere. Before y/n knew it she was trapped in the little space between the wall and his body.
Loki's eyes were dark, darker than usual, his pupils dilated, his face only a couple inches from hers she could feel his hot breath on her lips."This stays a secret," his voice hoarse, intimidating and commanding it sent shivers down her spine, "Thor can never find out about this."

Y/n had been eyeing him for a while. She didn't know what it was about this man that caught her attention, but something about him made it almost impossible for her to look away. Loki - her target, sat there in a bar with his brother and their friends; the Endgame survivors. They invited her to join, but y/n politely turned the offer down, saying she still needed some alone time for her mental state after the war with Thanos. No one pushed her; it was understandable. What happened left everyone with quite deep scars that sometimes it was hard to decide if it was better to be the one who survived than to be the one who got to close their eyes and rest.
Y/n's excuse wasn't a lie. She still needed time to heal, just like everybody else. Though there was other reason the girl decided not to join the little conversation; she figured here, in distance, she could look at Loki without making it obvious. Eyes on him, and only him, like a hawk eyeing its prey.

Weeks after her secret little observation (observation, not obsession, she told herself) y/n decided to make a move. She knew she had to wait for perfect opportunity; when Loki was alone.
The meeting lasted longer than expected, but after Rhodey called it off for the day (Rhodey, the duty fell on Rhodey's shoulders after Tony was gone) and everyone was leaving y/n waited. Thank God the Trickster was the last to leave. So they were alone.
"May I have a word?" She asked. Loki came to a halt. For a second y/n almost reached out to grab his arm, but then decided against it. She didn't know him that well, but she knew him well enough to know he wasn't a fan of being touched without permission.
"I don't see why not." Loki nodded, encouraging her to go on, though the look on his face didn't go well with his words.
They never talked that much, barely shared a few conversations, but y/n really needed to get this out. "How are you doing?" She blurted out.
Loki raised his eyebrows, but replied after a few seconds, "I'm fine."
Liar, y/n thought reflectively. She so wanted to yell at him that she knew. Stop pretending because she'd been watching him for weeks, and her instinct was right. She knew his ugliest secret! Instead y/n just said, "Are you sure?"
"Why are you asking me this?" Loki asked back, suddenly he looked offended, attacked even. Y/n could almost see that invisible guard he put up high. She shrugged, acting like she didn't care, "I don't know. I just think something's bothering you. You've been acting a bit... strange." Ever since you came back to life.
"I am perfectly fine. Now if you'd excuse me,"
Before y/n could say anything more he slipped away.

He got this, Loki told himself, he got this under control. He could deal with it (could he?) yes, he had to. He had no other choice.
