"He what?" I asked.

"He left Japan. No one knows where he is, but I do have his phone number. Here. Give him a call. I think he would like to talk to his family."

The lady handed me a business card to me. I took it from her and stuck it in my pocket.

"Thank you," I said.

"You're welcome."

I walked out of the bar and back in the streets of Shinjuku. This wasn't going to be easy breaking the news to Y/N. I walked back towards the train station and headed to the office. When I arrived, I walked in and into my office I had. Everything was still laid out. I looked at the map of Japan and extended it to see the map of the world. He literally could be anywhere. I set my things down and sat down. If he had reappeared about two weeks ago and then left, he must have taken a plane. I first checked the airlines from Japan to California. I tried looking up his name, but that didn't work. If he didn't want anyone to find him, he must of used a different name. This was going to be harder than I thought. I sighed, grabbed my things, and headed to my apartment. When I walked in, everything was where it was. I carefully stepped over some papers and set my briefcase down. I looked at my next target and smirked to myself.

"You're next Okumura."

"He left?" I asked.

"He left Japan. I don't know where he is. I never bothered calling. And he never bothered calling either."

I sat there in disbelief. I shook my head, not wanting to accept this answer.

"But let's get one thing straight, Y/N. Your father loved you. The reason he left—I do not know—but all I know is that he loved you."

I just nodded and let tears roll down my eyes.

I pulled out the card and called the number. It took a while for the person to pick up, but they finally did.

"Hello?"

"Hello, am I talking to Hayata L/N by any chance?"

There was a pause before he responded. "How did you get my number?"

"A detective knows. I would of thought you of all people, Mr. Hayata, would know. Since you were a detective yourself."

"I used to be. What do you want with me?"

"I just need to ask you some questions."

"Fine. Make it quick."

"Why did you leave your family?"

"I left for reasons. They're classified."

"Understandable, but I need to know."

"Why?"

"Your daughter wants to know where you are."

He sighed, "Give me a minute. I need to find a safe place."

There was a long pause and I heard a door slam.

"Alright. I'll tell you everything you want to know."

"Excellent. First, where is your location?"

"32. 3182 degrees North and 89.9023 West."

I wrote that down and continued, "What area?"

"334."

"Why did you leave?"

"I left because I was being hunted down by someone. I know a lot about this one topic and I don't want it to fall into the wrong hands. I fled because they were after me. I wanted to keep my family safe from what I was doing."

"So you're not a detective after all."

"That was before I took on this job."

"And what job is that, Mr. Hayata?"

Another door could be heard.

"Hayata, who are you talking to?"

"I have to go."

"No, Mr. Hayata, wait—"

The line cut off. I growled in frustration and set my phone down. I sighed and looked at the notes I had written down.

"So he fled to the US. No Japanese government official would think the worlds best detective would flee to the United States. He must of gone through a lot of trouble to get a US citizenship or at least a green card. Or maybe he's there illegally. If he is, he'd have to be brought back to Japan. Looks like I'm heading to Alabama. But after I deal with Okumura."

I grabbed my things and headed over to Okumura's building. The Phantom Thieves were there and they were getting ready to go in. I waited until the surroundings changed. I hide from them as they made their way through the palace. All I had to do was follow them and they would lead me to Okumura. This plan was perfect. They had found a way to the treasure.

"Now, all we have to do is send the calling card," a cat said.

"Yeah, we're going to take Okumura down!" a blond kid said.

"Indeed. We will leave the decision on when to send the calling card to you, Joker," said someone with a dog like mask.

"We should prepare before we send it," said a girl with brown hair.

"Alright, let's get out of here and send that calling card!" said a girl with long reddish hair.

Joker nodded and left the treasure room. I jumped from my hiding spot and looked at the treasure. I scoffed and looked at them running out of the palace.

"You're not going to get the result you want, Phantom Thieves. You soon will know what it means to have a downfall. Just like I did."

I left the palace and got out of there before any of them knew I was in there with them. I walked back to my apartment and grabbed Okumura's photo.

"By this time tomorrow, Okumura's shadow will be killed."

I grabbed my briefcase and loaded my gun. I put it back in and closed the briefcase.

"Case closed: Okumura will be dead by tomorrow."
