I woke up the next morning and saw I had a missed call from my mother. I grabbed my phone and listened to the message she had left.
"Hey, Y/N. I'm sorry I didn't call you last night, but everything just happened so quickly. I'm sorry. I won't be home until a couple days. Visiting hours are 5-9 PM. I hope to see you sometime today. I know Sojiro will understand. I love you, Y/N."
Tears slipped down my face and I wiped them away. I got changed and headed to the train station. I stood against a pillar as I waited. I sighed as I looked at the news on my phone.
"Hey, Y/N?"
I looked up and saw Akechi was standing in front of me. "Hi, Akechi."
"I made some progress with your father's case."
"You did?" I asked, brightening up a bit.
"I did. I need to head to Shinjuku to find more information on him."
"Do you mind if I accompany you?"
"I would like you to, but I'd rather you not."
"Oh."
"I will grab a cup of coffee before I leave though," he smiled.
I smiled back at him, "Alright."
"Oh, I should be heading out. I don't want you to be late."
"Um, before you go, is it ok if we exchange contact information?"
"I don't mind at all," he said and pulled out his phone. We exchanged information and the train came into the station.
"I'll see you later, Akechi," I said and got onto the train. Eiko had gotten in the train car and we waited until we got to the train station by the school. The doors opened up and we walked out. I sat in class and looked out the window, just thinking about my mother and my father. I dozed off until the bell took me out of my trance. The day slowly crawled by. Lunch was probably the worst time since I didn't want anyone to know about my mother. I looked around and saw Akira was walking with a couple of his friends. I grabbed my things and ran over to Akira.
"Akira," I said.
AKira turned around and so did his friends, "Oh, hey, Y/N. Is everything ok?"
"Is it ok if I talk to you?"
"Do you mind?" Akira asked his other friends.
"Nah. Go help her out, man," said the blond haired kid.
"I do think she needs your help," said the girl with the pigtails.
"I'll see you guys later," Akira said and walked over to me.
"Want to head to the courtyard?" I asked.
"Sure," he said and we walked towards the courtyard.
"What's up?" he asked.
"There was another incident with the trains."
"I did hear that," Akira said.
"My mother was part of that accident."
Akira's expression changed from relaxed to concerned.
"Is she ok?"
"Yeah, she's fine. She called me this morning."
He walked over to me and rested his hand on my shoulder, "I think Sojiro would let you visit her if you ask him."
"I will ask him when I head over there."
"Is that all you needed to tell me?"
"Akechi might be able to find my father."
"Really?"
"Yeah," I said.
"He is one of the best detectives. I wouldn't put it past him."
I nodded and there was some moving in his bag. A cat's head popped out and meowed at him.
"Wait, you have a cat in your bag?"
"Oh, this is Morgana."
Morgana jumped out of the bag and onto his shoulder. I reached up and rubbed his head. He purred and rubbed his head into my hand.
"I think he likes you," Akira said.
"I think he does too."
The bell rang and Morgana jumped back into his bag.
"Thank you," I said.
"You're welcome," Akira said.
We walked back to our class and I was back to dozing off. When the last bell rang, I got up and headed to the train station. I got the first train to Yogen-Jaya and when the train pulled to the station I ran out. I walked inside Leblanc and put my things down.
"You're here early," Sojiro said.
"Can I ask you something, boss?"
"Of course."
"My mother is in the hospital and visiting hours are from 5 to 9."
"Well go visit her. Don't worry about coming to work if your mother is in the hospital."
"T-thank you, boss. Oh, if Akechi shows up, tell him I'm sorry for not serving him coffee."
"I will pass the message on to him if I see him."
"Thank you," I said and grabbed my bags and left.
I headed to the house and put my things in my room. Around 5 I headed over to the hospital. I walked back to where my mother's room was and walked in.
"Hi, mom," I said and walked over to her.
"Hi, Y/N," she said and smiled.
I sat next to her and sighed.
"Everything ok?"
"Do you know that ace detective?"
"Goro Akechi?"
"Yeah."
"What about him?"
"He might be able to find dad."
The expression dropped and looked away from me.
"Mom?"
"Your father," she whispered.
"What about dad?"
"I didn't tell you this, but they were looking at his case and they closed it."
"Wouldn't that mean Akechi reopened it?"
"It might, but I don't think Akechi will find him."
"Why's that?"
"It is because..."
I headed into Shinjuku after I had grabbed a cup of coffee from Leblanc. Y/N wasn't there, but I understood once Sojiro explained everything. I walked into one place that could know where he could of gone.
"Good evening, oh, you're a bit young to come in here."
"I am in here to get information."
"Ah, now I see who you are. You're the ace detective, Goro Akechi."
"I am."
"What kind of information do you need?"
"I heard this man was last seen in Shinjuku. Have you seen him?" I asked and slid a photo onto the counter. The lady picked it up and inspected it. She slid the photo back over to me and sighed.
"I have seen him. He used to come here every weekend after work, but when he didn't show up, I got worried. A lot of people were worried where he went since he didn't show up for about a week. The police had conducted a search for him. They tracked him down, but since he too was a detective, he hid his tracks very well. He came back two weeks ago and ordered his usual drink."
"Where did he go afterwards?"
"He left Japan."
