"How is that possible?" I asked Akira.

"I don't know, but we're going to get to the bottom of this."

I shook my head, "But he's alive! You can't take him from me!"

"Y/N, think about it. I know you're happy, but think about it," he said and walked away.

I looked at the ground and remembered he was killed in Shido's palace. He was killed by Shido's cognitive version of himself. I shook my head. I didn't want to believe it, but that was the real world and it was the truth. He was killed in Shido's palace. But, he's here with me now. Doesn't that matter?

"Y/N, is something the matter?" Akechi asked me.

I looked up at him and shook my head, "No. Nothing is the matter. Come on. We should continue with our date."

"I agree," he said and took my hand.

What Akira wants to do. Is it right?

"Hey, Akechi?"

"Yes, Y/N?"

"Does something feel off to you?"

He stopped and looked at the ground. He nodded his head, "Yes. Something is off."

"I feel it, too."

"To be blunt with you," he said and turned to face me. "I should not belong in this reality."

"This reality?"

"Yes. There is something happening with this reality and the original reality we were supposed to be in. I hope to have Akira help me get to the bottom of this."

"But if we're in the wrong reality, that means," I didn't even want to finish my sentence.

"Yes. If we restore our reality and go back to it, I will be gone."

"Is that what you want?"

"I won't let someone play god and mess with everyone's cognition. Besides, I carve out my own path for myself. I will do what I please."

"I see," I said.

"Is something the matter? Don't get me wrong. I am still the same Akechi that loved you in the original reality."

"I think I just need some time to think about this."

"I completely understand. Why don't I walk you back to your house?"

"S-Sure," I said and he took me to my house. I said goodbye to him and walked inside.

There was so much I had to wrap my head around. Different reality. Rewriting cognition. But the one thing I didn't want to accept is that Akira and Akechi wanted the same thing. They want to restore the world to its original reality. If that were the case and they were to succeed, I would no longer have Akechi with me. But this wasn't right. It wasn't right for someone to actually live in their own fantasy world. I know what I have to do.
