Chapter 2: Mega Pokemon Meltdown!

"What's Mega Evolution?" Ash asked.

"My father told me that Mega Evolution further evolves a Pokemon, as long as it's in its final stage." Cayla explained.

"But not all Pokemon have a mega Evolution, even now we only know a hand full of Pokemon." Professor Sycamore nodded. "And whats more, they can go back into the previous form. This happens with two stones, mind showing them?" He looked at the dark haired girl.

"Here, this is a Key Stone." Cayla pulled out the necklace. "And these are Mega stones."

"Does that mean one of your Pokemon can Mega evolve?" Clemont asked.

"Not yet. After Ro evolves there is a chance of doing so though. This is Galladeite, to Mega Evolve a Gallade. And this is Gardevoirite, to Mega Evolve a Gardevoir. It's also believed Garchomp can Mega Evolve right?" Cayla looked up at the Professor.

"Thats what we think. Garchomp lives here in the lab with me, an while I do research on it, they're a really great friend. And very kind." He looked over to where Garchomp was watching over Frokie.

"Cayla, can you lift me up so I can pet it?" Bonnie begged, tugging on the girl's shirt.

"Hmm, Okay." Cayla smiled, leading the way over. "Hi Garchomp." She smiled, petting it's back. "You're worried aren't you, don't worry. I'm sure Frokie is okay."

"Gar!" Garchomp nodded.

Cayla leaned down and picked the younger girl up, Holding her up to pet the Pokemon. "Wow! You're all scaly!" Bonnie giggled, petting it's nose.

"There are always lots of Pokemon in labs, I'm sure there are more outside." Cayla chuckled.

"Really! I wanna see! I wanna see!" Bonnie begged, being set back down.

"That can be arranged, right over here is the garden." Professor Sycamore said with ease, motioning towards the back.

"You come too!" Bonnie insisted, dragging Cayla out by the hand, Ro followed right behind. Cayla allowed herself to be tugged around. Bonnie reminded her of Zero in a way, so the older girl was compelled to look after her. Ash stayed behind with Frokie, but ended up following after them.

Cayla watched Ro play with the other Pokemon and Bonnie, a bright smile on her face, giggling when Ro started dancing happily.

"So Cayla, your father told me you can talk to Pokemon." The Professor hummed, looking down.

"Woah, is that true?" Ash asked, staring at her.

Cayla's face heated up shyly, since she hadn't intended for anyone to know. "Well yes, but not the way you're thinking. I can talk to my Pokemon, as long as we have a strong bond, which is currently all my Pokemon. I wouldn't be able to tell you what Pikachu says, for example."

The males nodded in understanding before a loud bang went off. "What was that?!" Ash yelled as a woman ran out.

"Some people put a strange collar on Garchomp! Its's Destroying the lab!" She yelled.

"Ro come on!" Cayla yelled, running back into the lab.

Garchomp wag growling and blasting around. It's eyes were red as it screamed in pain.

"It's in Pain!" Ash said before Garchomp fled. "Lets go after it!"

"Right!" Cayla nodded, running after Garchomp.

They stopped at Prism tower, looking up. "I have to get up there, Garchomp is in danger."

"Well then, good thing I brought my backpack." Clemont nodded, leading the way to the back. An Aipom arm came out of the bag, and connected with the tower. In seconds, it was open. "These things are kinda my thing." He admitted.

"Great job!" Cayla smiled, walking in with Ro beside her.

Just as Clemont and Bonnie were about to enter with Ash, a Hyper Beam shot down, crumbling the path.

"Ro, think you can do a quick future check?" She asked, biting on her lip.

Ro nodded, his eyes glazing over before he snapped out of it. "Kir Kirlia." 'We'll survive.' He offered simply, but the frown on his face was enough for Cayla to tell he didn't like what he saw.

She set a hand on his head and smiled. "Thats all we need! Lets go!" She said before running after Ash.

It was difficult, but they made it to the top. Even with Frokie's frubbles, and Ash's hold Garchomp thrashed around. Cayla followed Ash's method, she wrapped her arms around Garchomp.

"Ro Psychic!" She yelled, revealed when a blue glow held Garchomp perfectly still.

Pikachu jumped up, it's tail lighting up silver before slamming down on the device, breaking it. Ro broke his Psychic, allowing Garchomp to fall into their arms.

"Gar..."

"That hurt didn't it. You're okay now." Cayla whispered, smiling before she heard a scream.

Pikachu slipped, and Ash jumped off. Cayla darted forward to catch him, but missed his hand and fell over, followed by Ro trying to save her. Cayla pulled Ro to her chest, moving so she'd land on her back when they smashed into the ground.

"Ro, get into your Poke-Ball!" Cayla yelled over the roar of the wind.

"Kirlia!" 'No!' He shook his head. "Lia Kirli Kirlia Ia!" 'If you're going, I'm going with you!'

"Aaaahhhhhhhhhh!"
