Cayla panted softly as she spun beside Ro in Korrina's private battle field. Since they had a celebration the group wasn't planned to set out until the next afternoon. So, Cayla took the opportunity to practice. "Ro, use Magical Leaf!" She stated, pirouetting beside the Psychic Type in time. Sparkling green leafs fluttered around them, the light coming off them making trainer and Pokemon glow beautifully. "Protect....Now!" On command, a green bubble surrounded them, shattering upon meeting Magical Leaf. Beautiful, and shining confetti rained down on them, both in pose.
"Good job!" Cayla praised, patting Ro's head gently. She pulled out a box and opened it, handing it to him. "Here you go, you deserved this-"
"That was amazing you two!" A loud voice boomed, causing Cayla to squeak and turn around. Ash stopped and rubbed his neck sheepishly with Pikachu. "Sorry." He chuckled softly.
"Don't worry about it, I was just startled." She admitted, molten eyes lip up in the florescent light of the battle field. "I was just getting some practice, I don't want to mess up when our performance comes around." She sighed, sitting on the bench, Ash following behind. She handed a green Poffin to Ro, and turned to hand a yellow one to Pikachu. Dawn was back in her Poke-Ball, having gotten her training done first.
"What exactly is a Show Case? I know its why you're here, but I don't know what it is." Ash prodded, sitting Pikachu in his lap.
"In a Show Case there are two rounds; the Themed Performance, and the Freestyle Performance." She stared, meeting the boy's brown eyes. "The themed round can be anything from answering questions, to baking Poke Puffs. And the Freestyle performance is basically what you saw me and Ro doing, trainer and Pokemon working together to make a marvelous performance!" She beamed. "I personally wish that males were allowed to participate, maybe not for Kalos Queen, but maybe have a similar thing, like Kalos King? I think that would be fun!" She smiled at him before blushing and looking down. "Sorry, I guess I rambled."
"Don't worry about it." Ash hummed, "I think it's a good idea, bringing everybody together with their Pokemon!" He grinned. "So why do you want to perform? I mean, I'm battling Gyms because I want to be a Pokemon master, and battle along side my Pokemon."
"I..." Cayla smiled wistfully. "I want to have fun, and interact with my Pokemon in a way that makes us happy." She said, petting Ro gently. "But also, I want to make the people around me smile. When I was about to start my journey I settled on a Coordinator because I didn't want to battle, but I found some old tapes, and found out my Papa was actually a Coordinator, but an injury made him stop. So I then became one for him and ended up loving it. I had fun with my Pokemon, and it really seemed like people loved our Performances, and Battles, and I fell in love with it." She finished, smiling back at Ash. "And I want to do the same thing here!"
The boy blinked at her before grinning. "Then I'll be cheering you on!" He stated, patting her head like she often did to her Pokemon. Both of their cheeks heated, but Cayla didn't pull away.
Serena frowned, back pressed against the wall beside the door. Her blue eyes glared at nothing. "I'm going to be Kalos Queen, and Ash is going to love me. She better watch her back!" She spat, stalking back towards her room.
