"You..." Brian begins once he's in earshot of me, carrying our suitcases, "Have a lot of explaining to do."
"And why's that?" I smirk, catching mine as he rolls it towards me aggressively.
"You know I had to hail a taxi myself, right? In New York! While you were off hooking up with some girl."
"Aurora is definitely not 'just some girl'. She's, like, I don't even know how to explain her." I tell him, searching for a seat to crash on while we wait for our flight. "I got her number."
"You got her number?" Brian repeats sarcastically. "You left a party full of other hot girls and all you got was her number?"
"Well, I never said that was the only thing I got." I smirk, flopping down on an empty seat.
"Get it, Mendes!" He jokes, sitting next to me. "So was it good?"
"I've literally never felt anything so good in my whole life. She's unreal."
"So what was it? Just a one night stand, or something more?"
"I've honestly got no idea what she wants from me. She's so confusing, but at the same time I just..." I trail off mid sentence, only able to think about her.
"Well, sounds like you've got a challenge on your hands. Just don't let it interfere with the album. Andrew's mad enough as it is."
"Well, I actually think she's doing the opposite to the album, you know. When I get back to Toronto I'm meeting with Julia and Scott to work on a song that's kinda about her."
"Remind me how long you've known this girl?" Brian raises his eyebrows at me.
"Uh, I'd guess about 18 hours?" I chuckle at my own fickle nature. "You can't fight the inspiration, man."
"You know best, I guess. Just be careful. She sounds like a bit of handful, this Aurora girl."
"She is. In the best way." I smile widely, causing Brian to burst out laughing.
"Sorry, it's just- well, I've never seen you like this before. You used to just hook up with girls and then never call them again. And you wouldn't tell me anything about them. And now you're like, you're just completely gushing over this girl and you've known her for 18 hours. It's crazy, you're like a different person."
