My neck felt sore from sleeping with it hanging from my body. Pain blossomed in my arched back. I got up from my position on the ground and stretched. I rubbed my hand against my neck, hoping to sooth the pain.
"Fuck," I mumbled once I realized that I had to work today. I groaned before I left the bathroom. I walked to my room to get ready for another shitty day of hero work.
Once I got to work, I changed into my hero costume and got the rout that I was supposed to patrol for the day.

"Mom!" I heard a scream come from around the corner. I ran towards the noise, curious about what was happening. What I saw was something I didn't expect. A green humanoid-thing was laughing while he picked up a little girl by her neck.
He moved to bring the girl closer to his teeth, but my shout caused him to stop, "Green bastard! Stop what you're doing and let the damn girl go!" I looked at him menacingly, a smirk forming on my face. It's been a long time since a villain appeared before my eyes. I had been itching to fight someone for a while. I needed a living punching bag to vent on.
The villain did as I told him to and let the girl go by tossing her onto the body of her dead mother. A large crackling sound erupted from my hands as I got ready for battle.
The villain turned around and ran away. I chased the villain into a closed-down shop, his green skin contrasting the gray buildings of the city around him. His long brown hair flew through the wind as he ran, making me wonder why he didn't cut it.
He turned around to face me once he reached a dead end. I stood there and watched him with a triumphant look on my face. I had already known that I was going to win. My feet slowly walked to him, trying to intimidate him so that feared me more than he already did.
What made me stop my steps was the smirk that became apparent on his face. He then spoke, his voice smooth and practiced, like he had said those lines plenty of times before, "I've been waiting to tell you this, Ground Zero," He trembled, but he tried to hide it, "Actually, I'm sure a lot of people who knew this have wanted to tell you. I'm just lucky... Yeah, lucky," He paused. I merely watched on, my smirk no longer in existence.
"You see... All of us who have paid attention to you have realized that you and Deku were childhood friends, and that you, uh-," He spoke rapidly, his fear of me becoming evident. The green bastard scratched the base of his neck nervously.
"And that you have been less productive since Deku died. W-we have come to the conclusion that you miss Deku, a-and.... And.... Okay, if I give you information about Deku will you let me go!?" He freaked out.
"Deku's dead. What the hell type of information could be gained from a dead guy?" It hurt my hurt me to talk about his death. Why the hell would this green bastard talk about him? To get me angry so that I don't think? That bastard has another thing coming for him, speaking of Deku like that! He'll die!
"I-hang on! Deku's alive! Don't hurt me!" I paused.
"What do you mean 'Deku's alive!' Don't play with my fucking heart! " He looked at me, scared.
"I'll tell you more, bit only if you let me go! I only killed that woman because her blood had something I needed to survi-"I stopped his rant, "Tell me what you know."
he gulped before he spouted out everything he knew.
"Someone kidnapped Deku and they killed someone that had a-a transformation quirk while they looked like Deku! I swear! I don't know anything else, just that-that he's being held captive by someone with a mind-reading quirk! Oh, please, let me go!"
I waved him off. There was another hero outside, waiting just in case anything happened. He ran passed me and went to leave the building.
If his words were true, then Deku was alive. I felt a great relief in my heart. Deku... He might be alive... He might be alive... I fell to my knees, tears of relief falling furiously from my eyes and down my face. Deku... Deku... If your alive, then I'll find you. I won't let you die, not again. Deku... I used my arms to wipe away the tears that cascaded down my face. Will I finely be able to tell you that I love you? Will I be able to tell you that I'm sorry?
"Deku..." Are you alive? Are you okay? What has happened to you while I was wasting myself away with misery and guilt? Were you hurt? Did you cry? Are you crying, Deku? Are you crying, too? What was I doing? Why wasn't I looking for you? Why did I believe those damned news people? Their never right. Deku... I will find you. Thats a promise.
I stood up and left the building, not caring if it was obvious that I had just cried. If their was hope that you were alive Deku, then I wouldn't allow myself to just sit around and be lazy. I had to start looking for you, now.
With my mind full of questions and renewed hope, I marched to my hero agency, and told them that something personal had happened. I went home and began my research.
Deku... I will find you.
