“What the fuck do I do?”
Was all that crossed Alex’s mind, repeating itself like a broken record.
He knew too fucking well that he was the most stupid boy in the world, but he wasn’t ready for Josh to spread the rumour of him being homosexual, ‘cause Alex wasn’t.
It was just Jack, and it would only ever be Jack.
Josh wouldn’t understand though, hence why Alex didn’t even try to explain himself. He just gave in because secretly, he was weak.
Though Jack meant the world to him, at least right now, Alex just couldn’t let Josh know.
So he guessed that he was to break Jack’s heart, and his own.

Sitting in his bedroom, with the door shut and the curtains closed. Alex’s phone was held tightly in his palm as he sat cross-legged on his mattress, elbows resting on his knees.
He knew he should make the call, just warn Jack, but he knew what the boy’s reaction would be.
“So you’re just giving up on me, Alex? Why did I expect different from you? I thought we had something...”
And he could hear the boy begin to cry, though his room was filled with silence.
“Alex...”
His mother interrupted the quiet, of course.
Alex remained silent; he wasn’t in the mood to talk to anybody, not right now.
He could hear the woman climbing the stairs, a groan slipped his lips. His mum had probably realised something was up, because it wasn’t everyday Alex would storm into the house, race up the stairs, and lock himself away in his room for hours.
There was a light tapping on his bedroom door, “Alex, sweetie, can I come in?”
The light haired boy just grunted, though his mother took it as her invite to come in.
Slowly shuffling her way inside, she tutted at the state of the boy on his bed. “Oh, darling... I haven’t seen you this upset since...” And Isobel paused as her throat felt as if it were gradually closing, because though the year had passed, it still hurt to remember. “S-sorry,” She quickly apologised, pulling herself together. “Since D-Daniel left us, you’ve never been this upset.” She finally managed to choke out; taking a seat beside the boy whose head instinctively lay on her shoulder.
“What’s wrong, Alex?” The older woman hushed, a hand reaching up to stroke the male’s hair supportively.
“I-I...” Alex knew he couldn’t tell her the truth, not the exact truth, but perhaps he could bend it just a little.
“Mum... I-I have this uh, friend, a-and he’s good friends with someone, but that someone isn’t what people would call n-normal, I guess,” He began, straining his mind to word himself correctly, he couldn’t afford to slip up. “A-and, there’s another person, but they don’t like that not-so-normal someone, and they’ve told my friend that he’s just like that someone, but my friend isn’t!” Tears began to well in the corners of his eyes, his mother only pulling him closer towards her, because she wasn’t stupid. Though she was unsure of the actual subject, she knew that this so called friend of Alex’s, was in fact her son himself.
“So in o-order to prove himself that he’s normal, my friend’s being blackmailed into staying away from the not-so-normal p-person... But he doesn’t want to mum, b-because that person means so much to him, and he knows that if he just left him, the person would do something stupid.” He sniffed, clutching to his mobile even tighter than before.
