Tension was eating away at the English boy as Jack had disappeared into the kitchen after answering his incoming call. Alex’s clammy palms were clasped together as he sat cross-legged on the living room floor, his knees tucked into his chest. He knew this couldn’t be good. The way that Jack appeared to freeze all over, his face drained paler than Snow White’s herself, Alex was dreading to hear the verdict.
The handle of the door was pushed down, the click causing Alex to lift his chin.
“I have to see my mom.” The younger boy said quietly as he stepped towards his boyfriend, “I need to go now, i-it’s important...” He leaned down to press a kiss against Alex’s forehead, before his arms pulled the older male into a comforting hug.
“A-are you coming back?” Alex whispered, his eyes shut tight as he clung to the boy he depended on so badly. That was his worst fear; Jack’s mother taking him back, wanting him to live with her again. As his fingers dug into Jack’s shoulders, he breathed in that familiar scent, Alex didn’t want Jack to move back. He’d grown used to waking up to his boyfriend every single day, and although he knew the boy would still remain a short five minute walk away, it just wouldn’t be the same.
Jack forced a smile to reassure the boy he loved, “Of course I’m coming back, Al, this is my home now.” And he chuckled softly, knowing the sound would be of some comfort towards his other half. “Wherever you are, Alex, that will be home. You’re my home, and I’m not going to leave that.”
“O-okay...” Alex mumbled in return as he felt Jack’s arms loosen around his body. “And you’ll tell me everything that she says to you, wont you?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“Don’t let her take you away from me.” Alex quickly added in as Jack straightened his body, ready to pull on his shoes and leave.
The American boy leant down to press their lips together, “I wont, please, stop worrying, okay? I’ll be coming back to you, because I love you.” He hushed, nuzzling their noses together affectionately.
Alex managed a small smile as the other boy pulled away, “I love you, too,” He sighed, and he watched as Jack wiggled his fingers to say goodbye.
“So fucking much...” He finished quietly, just after hearing the sound of the front door shut.

With his fingers curled up into fists, the walk to his mum’s house (he refused to call it his own) seemed much longer than Jack had ever experienced before. Even with his long strides, the pavement seemed to stretch further and further away from him. Jack’s stomach was in knots and a lump had formed in his throat, he didn’t want to do this.
Turning his head to look past his shoulder, the boy could still see Alex’s home, his home, and he wanted to go back right this moment. Yet, as he continued to walk forward, he knew that he couldn’t.
It wasn’t for the fact that he couldn’t leave his mother waiting, but he knew that his boyfriend would be disappointed with him if he didn’t go and face his fears.
Jack wouldn’t deny the fact that he was absolutely terrified. On the phone his mother didn’t say much, she was more or less just saying how much her little boy had disappointed her, and that she urgently needed to see him. Apparently she held big news which involved the male but she refused to let slip of what it was, and Jack didn’t think it would be wise to tell Alex what she’d said. He didn’t want to worry his lover as much as he knew he already had done.
It probably wasn’t the best of ideas to just say to Alex he had to go without an explanation, but it seemed easier that way.
Lost in his mind, Jack had quite forgotten that he was walking.
