Dani's POV
"I told you everyone would love you," Demi said from behind me. I turned around and laughed at the silly elf hat she was wearing.
We had been at her aunts house for a few hours now and I had barely seen Demi. After introductions were made, I was dragged away by the little kids to play.
"Dani, that Barbie doesn't sleep in that room," Hannah, the little girl I was now playing with, told me. The kids started fighting about who got to play with me so I made an agreement that I would spend an hour with anyone that wanted to do. I just got done playing hide and seek with a few kids, which wasn't too bad since the house was big so there were lots of hiding places, and now I was playing with Hannah, who wanted to play with her new Barbie mansion. I was sitting on the ground in front of it and completely thankful I chose jeans instead of a dress.
"Which one does she sleep in? I thought she had the TV in her room."
Hannah sighed and shook her head. What the hell, she's only five and acting older than I am.
"That one's Cindy's."
I gave her a puzzled look. "But isn't Cindy the dog?"
This made Demi laugh and I looked back at her.
"Demi, this is a serious matter," The little girl pouted up at her and I smirked.
"Yeah, Demi, it's very serious." I turned back to Hannah. "So, really, isn't Cindy the dog?"
"Han," Demi crouched down next to the five year old and rubbed her arm, "I'm afraid I'll have to steal Dani away from you."
"You have to wait until your hour. This is my time." She crossed her arms and I had to stifle a laugh. A four year old trying to intimidate Demi was probably one of the funniest sights ever.
"But she's my girlfriend. I need to spend time with her."
I didn't think Lilly knew what Demi meant by girlfriend since she was only four but she still didn't back down and said, "But she's my bestest friend and I need to spend time with her."
I had to stop this because neither one was going to back down. Actually, the look on Demi's face was the complete opposite of backing down. She looked competitive all of a sudden.
"Hannah, baby, I'll make sure this won't cut into our hour, ok?"
She frowned once but then nodded and I stood up with Demi. We walked out of her room and down the hall into the little play area before the stairs. None of the kids were up here, they were all running around downstairs.
I walked over to the railing and leaned back against it. Demi walked up next to me and rested her elbows on the rail, facing the opposite way I was. I smiled at her.
"Nice hat," I said and she rolled her eyes and threw it on the little table that the kids color and play on next to us. "So, what's up?"
"I just wanted to see you. I haven't seen you this whole time we've been here."
I smiled at her. "Babe, that's only been a few hours."
She shrugged.
"Here's the happy couple," Dallas said as she walked up the stairs and over to us holding two glasses of what looked like champagne. "Dani, I wanted to see if you wanted something to drink that wasn't apple juice. I've seen you playing with the children the whole time."
I haven't had an alcoholic drink since I got into the car accident and suddenly it was all I wanted.
"Yes, please."
